Unfortunately cringe culture is not dead it is in fact alive and more vile than ever. Like if you see a character redesign and feel grossed out and go “ewww haha cringe it’s so woke look at all the labels and weird headcanons, nobody like that exists irl!!” I think you need to back up and ask yourself why you feel grossed out and uncomfortable by a character you enjoy being portrayed as “too weird”.

Someone being “too woke” for you, yes even the disabled therian fictionkin who uses xenogenders and neopronouns (ME), is still being bigoted by the way. You are still folding to traditional views and values. You are still discriminating against someone for an identity that is harmless to you. You NEED to look in the mirror and it doesn’t matter how “icky” you feel because showing hatred towards vulnerable people is a bigger killer than you being uncomfortable ever will be.

The person you state “doesn’t exist” could be someone you’ve walked past in the store. Bigoted discomfort does not deserve to be mourned.
