One of the more innocuous fanon i cannot stand that makes me skip out of a fic faster than anything else is actually wei wuxian being terrible at meditation. Or having to be taught meditation by someone, usually lan wangji or someone else from the lan sect.
Like what do you mean the man who meditated for a whole day immediately after coming back from the dead needs someone else to teach him? Madness i tell you.

Reminder that there is no "Lan Love Curse" when we only get two supposed tragic stories (Qinghen-Jun and Lan Wangji where both are through Lan Xichen's point of view on a relationship he knows nothing of) and are only told that despite being very monk like, they seem to be a very romantic sect underneath the stoicism, and Wei Wuxian finds that charming between all it's thousand of rules
Street market
Sometimes I think of the choices of two different adaptations (the donghua and the untamed) to soften Madam Yu's abuse on Wei Wuxian and I'm left baffled.
"she held back her whip". What do you mean she held herself back ? Where ?
A lot of people are really uncomfortable with the thought of women being violent and women being violent towards children. Goes against gender expectations that women are “naturally” loving and maternal and the only thing that can cause a women to “break out of that programming” is a man “corrupting” her somehow (hence why this is also paired with evil, manipulative!jfm or just neglectful husband and father!jfm and why jfm is not seen as a victim of spousal abuse since “women can’t abuse men” and “only physical abuse is real abuse”).

I feel like we as a fandom don't acknowledge how Wen Qing and Wei Wuxian were both prodigal geniuses in their respective fields, and how much they had accomplished in their young age.
Both of them had thought up an incredibly difficult theoretical concept that was deemed impossible or with little to no chances of success, and they both managed to pull it off. (Wen Qing with the golden core transfer, and Wei Wuxian with his guidao). Both of them worked together to help the Wen remnants survive in the burial mounds on a shoestring budget, and they managed for a long time.
I feel like people forget that Wen Qing was famous not only in the Wen clan, but throughout the cultivation world for her skills in the medical field.
In short, Wei Wuxian worked incredibly well with both of the Wen siblings. Which is why all their deaths are even more of a tragedy, that the cultivation world killed such brilliant minds in wake of their own greed and cowardice.
Wei wuxian: the protagonists of all time
One of the many things I love about wei wuxian is that how great of a protagonist he is (quite a long post) :
Wei wuxian is introduced as a villian that gets resurrected but as the story progresses we see that he is actually a naturally heroic person, who did his best to do the right thing and survive the unfair, unjust and classist system.
He is very self aware, confident, charming, charismatic, handsome and competent. He has a very healthy self esteem, high emotional intelligence and he is a renowned genius, a prodigy. He is also amazingly observant, perceptive, a logic driven person, a quick thinker. He is so calculated in everything he does and reasonable too. He isn't impulsive or reckless rather he thinks all his actions through, considers the consequences and then takes action. He isn't oblivious either (anyone who thinks otherwise go read the book again).
Above mentioned traits are something you don't usually find in protagonists that often and it's refreshing to see a character so greatly skilled and intelligent in all ways yet so humble, sweet, kind, free spirited, full of life and selfless (selfless not self sacrificing). Usually any other character with his level of greatness would have been arrogant about it, but wwx is different. He has not only attempted the impossible but successfully achieved it, not once but multiple times, yet he knew his limits and shortcomings well, even when he was the strongest he never thought himself invincible/omnipotent, he never thought anyone above or below him.
He is so misunderstood both by the world he lives in and the fandom. Being orphaned at a young age, surviving living on the streets, being raised in a abusive household, scapegoated, backed into the farthest corner, having being into worst of situations, where his beliefs, his own life and life of his loved ones are threatened, having limited options where it is either forsake yourself or other innocent ones, he chooses the former. It isn't self sacrificial if he didn't have any other option, cuz other option is just betrayal of his self and morals.
And at the end he is just as human as any of us if not more. He has his flaws, his trauma, his sufferings, his dark days and moments where he wasn't himself but he never let it hold him back, dictate his life. He seeked revenge on those who wronged him, even in his darkest days he knew the limits of violence he can commit. Never regretted any of his actions, if he did he moved on quickly.
At the end there really isn't anyone like him, he isn't perfect but he is ideal, he is someone who we should learn from and strive to be. For me this is how an ideal protagonists should be, not only is he lovable, admirable, and deserving of immense respect, he is someone we can all be, it isn't impossible.
Is it just me, but rereading TGCF makes me think that Hua Cheng is somehow similar to Wei Wuxian, while Xie Lian is quite similar to Xiao Xingchen.
Hua Cheng is rational and tough, he's similar to WWX, in which they will not hesitate to retaliate when they suffer injustice, instead of silently enduring (be it in words or action). They're also similar in nature, they will separate between grudges and gratitude, and would not dwell in hatred or indiscriminate malice even if they have power greater than others. In conduct and choice, WWX is somehow inexperienced compared to the calm and composed Hua Cheng, but it's also because his life journeys are only up to 20 years old, whereas Hua Cheng has hundreds of years of experiences to learn from.
Xie Lian on the other hand is more similar to Xiao Xingchen, a gentle person who has boundless patient and kindness. What made me think he's like Xiao Xingchen is that, he's not afraid of pursuing justice and doing the right thing even if he's badly hurt as a result. Both Xiao Xingchen and Xie Lian are incredibly good-tempered that it makes people feel distressed because they're like soft buns who are easily bullied. While WWX is also this kind of person who pursues the right thing, but his temper is not as soft as Xie Lian, and is more rebellious as Hua Cheng.
And in MXTX-related news, this is as sweet as it is incredibly cruel! Ow, my heart!
cangse-sanren and wei changze would've loved lan wangji so much. you can't tell me they wouldn't have adored their son-in-law
Came across a post on pinterest about peonies- how they bloom for 100 years and are thus used to symbolise happy and long marriages. And I can't stop thinking about how Wei Wuxian tossed these peonies at Lan Wangji during his first life.
And I'm also thinking about how Lan Wangji pressed one of those peonies into the notebook on which Wei wuxian transcribed the Lan clan rules, on the page which explains the significance of the Lan clan forehead ribbon...
And just like how peonies are said to bloom for a hundred years, Lan Wangji's love for Wei Wuxian never withered even after all those long years...
Edit: okay guys, I just saw an old post on tumblr about the audio drama. In the AD, when Wei Wuxian tosses peonies at Lan Wangji, the music that plays in the background is called 'silent confession'
...
