I keep seeing posts about Kesha crying and how high her IQ is and how both things are proof she isn’t lying, but here’s your reminder that it’s bullshit anyway, that she should’ve been listened to whether she was bawling or stoic, and that arbitrary numbers like IQ have nothing to do with whether someone should be respected

please stop making posts “proving” she should be sympathized with when a desire to be away from someone who has hurt you should be a universal right

Bernie Sanders is losing.

Hey people if you want Bernie to win you actually have to go to your state’s caucuses/primaries. Bernie is doing well, but the reality is that he’s not in the lead yet. Preach all you want about how much you support him, but if we don’t act and go out to declare we’re voting for him, he’s gonna lose.

The candidates aren’t chosen by internet hype. They’re chosen by solid support shown at the caucuses/primaries. All you need to focus make a quick Google Search to find where the caucus/primary will be held for your area. Find when it is and GO. Show the government that Bernie actually has support.

Minnesota’s caucuses are on March 1st. I’ll be volunteering at one, and I don’t want to see Bernie defeated by Hillary AGAIN – especially not while Trump is polling so high. I’m not kidding. Trump is winning states now.

Seriously, sitting on your ass hoping he wins won’t get us anywhere. Go out and declare support so he actually gets to the real election. If he doesn’t start winning states he’ll be forced to drop out of the running. Find your Minnesota Caucus

i was at a grocery store really late one night and some old guy kind of eyed me as i walked out of the store next to this other lady. She and I made eye contact and i knew she was scared too. we loaded up our groceries into our cars as fast as possible and I had way more bags than her so she got done faster than me. I panicked because i was sure she was going to leave so i just hurried faster, shaking a little, and then i noticed she sat in her car, watching me and making sure nobody came near. She waited not until all my groceries were loaded, or until my cart was put away, or until I got into my car. No, she didn’t drive away until I drove away. 

And that was the moment that I realized how much women need other women. That we can’t win this war without each other and we have to be looking out for each other, every second.

my last year in new york city, i got off the subway around 9 or 10p.m. i only lived about 5 blocks from the f train, but i hadn’t gotten more than two before a woman’s hand suddenly touched my arm. 

“that guy behind us is following you,” she said. “he was watching you leave the train car and followed you up.”

i hadn’t noticed him, or at least not noticed him following me. when we stopped outside a grocery store, he stopped half a block back and loitered. the woman linked her arm with mine and walked me several blocks out of her way to my front door and made sure i got inside safely.

another time, nocigar and i were walking home and at a stoplight a stranger grabbed my arm when i wouldn’t respond to him and tried to physically drag me over to him. she—who is, by the way, not a very physically imposing girl—ripped his hand off my arm and snarled, “don’t fucking touch her.”

I was at a club once and my friend left with her boyfriend so I finished my drink and was heading out to the parking lot when three girls came up to me and basically surrounded me. 

“Those guys behind us were talking about following you. We can walk with you.” 

I have MMA training but have never in my life had been offered the protection and sanction of my own gender. This is so important.

FORCED STERILIZATION OF ROMANI WOMEN – A PERSISTING HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION

While human rights can be violated by individuals or by institutions, they can only be defended by institutions. The European Court of Human Rights does not deal with single individuals who have committed crimes. Rather, it focuses on why the government in question could not take action against what happened. But where are the doctors, politicians and all the people who personally contributed to or carried out such surgeries, and when they are going to take responsibility for their actions? In order to take action against this human rights violation, blaming the Communist regime is not enough. The practice continues today and forcibly sterilized Romani women are still a long way from receiving true justice.

Stop reducing native issues to “they had their land taken”.

Our sisters are still murdered and missing. Our children go hungry and cold. Our elders can’t afford health care. Our parents suffer from untreated mental illness and have addictions because they self medicate.

And thats not even on the reservations. Thats just in farming communities of the Lumbee. And we are doing well by comparison to other groups.

Stop reducing us to stolen land and erasing our real struggles.

Natives have the highest suicide rates. Natives have the most unsafe school conditions. 75% of sex trafficking victims in Canada are First Nations. Natives are the most likely to be shot by police according to some studies and just as likely to be shot as black brothers and sisters according to others. Half of the homes on reservations in the US are legally deemed “uninhabitable” despite families and children living in them. Non native people can still commit crimes against us and not even be tried under native law, usually meaning not at all. Reservations flood often, they are stricken with drought. Most urban native kids carry the weight of being the only native their classmates and other townspeople will ever know. There are no college classes for us or about us. We are struggling, y'all. We have had our land, languages, and family ripped from us, it’s more than just history, it’s 500+ years of ongoing genocide.
