Our driver was from Rameswaram. He told us a little bit about Rameswaram once we got on the road. Where we would be going would be past where there are roads or electricity.

Our Jeep was an old, rusty machine. There wasn’t much between us and the elements. No doors. The battery sat just between the driver’s and passenger’s seats. I did really like the teal interiors.

The colors of Rameswaram

Ramarokha Temple is the highest point on Rameswaram, so you can see the town and the landscape from the temple.

Ramarokha Temple is the site of where Rama stood looking for Sita, who had been kidnapped by Ravana. This is part of one of the major epics of Hinduism. Many people come of Rameswaram on pilgrimage for this reason.

Rameswaram

Yesterday I got back from a week-long trip to the south of India (specifically the state of Tamil Nadu). I had a really nice time with the family friends I went with. One of the activities we did was going off-roading in jeeps on the peninsula of Rameswaram, which once was a land bridge that connected India and Sri Lanka.

I took some pictures and videos that I’m quite pleased with, so I’m going to try to edit it all and put it up here for the next week or so. It was such a nice activity and I just wanted to share it.
