This is my capstone project I finish a while ago! I decided I may as well upload it to ao3! It’s a screenplay focusing on Horatio after the canon events in the original Hamlet play.

Who told me it was a good idea to make my capstone project a screenplay of the aftermath of Hamlet focused on Horatio. Who told me to misread the final lines of the original play and believe that they were going to stage a play using the corpses to retell the narrative, thus leading to my interest in writing a “play within a play” ? Who told me to be the ultimate procrastinator, making this infinitely harder than it needed to be.

“She’s not that bad! And it’s not like I’m planning on getting back with her!”

“You say that, but that’s one crazy bitch we’re talking about here. She’s probably all up n’ thinking about all sorts of fucked up ways to get you under her thumb.”

“I’ve changed, and I’m sure she has too! I- I’m more mature now, I’m sure I can deal with her!”

“Listen, I’m not saying I don’t trust you dawg, I do, but I do not trust that bitch.”

“I don’t like how you keep calling her… that.”

“What? A bitch? Well I wouldn’t have to if she wasn’t one. C’mon bro, you had to deal with her bullshit every damn day. You should know better. In fact, if it were me, I would only ever shower you in kisses n’ shit.”

“Um, well, I was weaker back then! She was just trying to toughen me up, that’s all.”

“Dude. Do you hear yourself right now? ‘Toughen’ you? Shit man, she was trying to kill you!”

“I-It was an accident!”

“That was no accident man! That psychotic bitch was all up and trying to plaster your brains onto the goddamn wall!”

“You weren’t there! How could you-“

“Look at yourself! You saying all of that was an accident? No, dude, no. Forget that bitch, stay with me instead.”

“Well- I-“

“Listen here lil man, crazy bastards like her come in a dime a dozen. She never appreciated you the way you deserve. Now that you’re gone, she’s just begging to have you back. Realizing everything she motherfuckin’ lost.”

“Yeah, well, who else is gonna be there, huh? She put up with my weak, pathetic self. She tried to make me stronger! If it wasn’t for then maybe-”

“You? You? Shit man you ain’t need to be stronger! You ain’t gotta change for fucking anyone! You’re already perfect!”

“I’M NOT! STOP SAYING ALL OF THAT!”

“No! Listen to me-”

“I don’t want to hear it! You don’t know what it’s like to be at the bottom of the food chain! You’re already up there! So was she! She was beyond my league and I fumbled! Now I’ll never have someone who can-”

“GOD FUCKING DAMMIT MAN I’M RIGHT HERE!”

“What? What do you mean by that”?

“Stay with me, man. Forget about her. We can do whatever you wanna do, just don’t pick her. We can watch a movie, or play some games. Fuck it, we can even go eat at one of them fancy restaurants and I’ll foot the bill. Please, I’m begging you, stay with me”.

“I”-

“Anything you want lil man, I’ll do it”.

“But I don’t-”

“Just say the word, and you won’t regret it. Trust me, stay.”

“I don’t know, I just- I just gotta go. I’m sorry”

Sorry for the wait!

In my creative writing class, we had an assignment that focused on dialogue, just dialogue. There wasn’t any “he said” or sentences that involved action, just raw “___”. We couldn’t even give the characters names.

The goal was to reveal character through it, as well as see if there’s any subtext. So I decided: Hey, I know how Tavros and Gamzee talk to each other, I’ll just use them. No one is gonna know.

Well, today I entered class and saw my submission (along with 2 other folk) as tabs projected on the screen. To my raw horror, the professor read it aloud.

He read glorified GamTav fanfiction. The fanfiction that I wrote. The class listened to my profesor read Gamtav fanfiction. Unrequited love, no happy ending.

Suffice to say I’m embarrassed but also flattered (they said good things about it)
