My new tarot deck 😍 I am officially in love, they’re much smaller than my other deck and for so nicely in my hands 💜

In this article, I’ll be covering sensing energy. Sensing energy is a natural preliminary to grounding, centering, and shielding. It’s arguably one of the more complex parts of the equation, and it may take a while to learn.
Once you’ve gotten to the point where you can sense energy well, you can move on to the other three exercises.
Almost anyone can learn to sense and manipulate subtle energy. It is best to begin by developing an awareness of your personal energy. All humans have a subtle body as well as the ability to process energy in order to sustain it. You can learn to sense both.
Humans usually manipulate the flow of energy through their subtle body unconsciously. This is possible because energy has a symbiotic relationship with our mind and focus. Whether we realize it or not, focusing on a concept, desire, place, or body part will in some way direct energy towards it.
This can be enhanced with simple visualization to guide every step of the process. Visualize light of a particular color or texture flowing through your body. This is easy to imagine.
You’ll find that once you imagine it, you’ll have difficulty controlling where the light flows. This is because it will naturally follow the tides of energy within you. While these can be controlled to a degree, it isn’t complete, and often, they do what they want!
When you reach the point where the light is not wholly under your control, you’ve moved from just imagining it to actually sensing the energy inside you.
Direct your focus towards a particular body part. The hands are ideal for this. You’ll find that, regardless of your own intent, focusing on that part causes the light to flow towards it. The light will begin to pool in your hands (or wherever you focus).
Most people feel physical sensations accompanying this, but these can vary. Some people get a sensation of fullness, whereas others experience a tingling. Don’t be alarmed if there’s a vague pulsating feeling in time with your heartbeat! This isn’t too common, but people do experience it.
This method allows you to sense and direct the flow of energy, to a degree. For the most part, though, your energy will naturally gravitate towards a “centralized” position in your body.
The exact bodily location of this “center” differs between individuals (more on this in a later article), but it is commonly in the torso, or, more rarely, the head.
It can be useful to consider the implications of where your energy tends to pool. What does it mean if it flows mostly into your stomach? Your heart area? Head?
These are all up for interpretation, but I’ve found there’s meaning to be gleaned there. I myself tend to have a center in my abdomen, but previously, it was always my heart. It can change with major life changes, you see. Energy isn’t ever truly static.
If you observe your energy throughout daily life, you’ll find that physical movement (of arms, legs, etc.), causes it to gravitate towards those areas. You’ll also find that injuries and related issues will affect it. It is good to spend time just observing your own energy in various situations!
Hello. This will be my first official article in my series on energy work or direct magick. Today, I’ll be discussing visualization and its uses for this purpose. I’ll also be discussing my own theories as to why visualization works so well for this.
Later articles will give practical, how-to information, but this one will be more theoretical. Much of what I’m going to say here qualifies as UPG, or at least just my own personal theories. Does it make sense to you? Read, and formulate your own thoughts!
I want to begin by saying that visualization is far from the only route to effective magick. Many people use other methods, and get great results from that. Also, not everyone can visualize. We all have different talents, and we use our skills differently.
Still, plenty of witches (like myself) do use techniques of visualization in energy work. It works pretty well for me, both for energy work and more traditional spellcraft. Most books on witchcraft include sections on visualizing, too, so it’s undeniably popular. Why is that? What makes this particular technique effective?
Cynics who hear about witches visualizing will often say something like, “Oh, so you’re playing pretend and imagining things. Okay.” While visualization does exercise the imagination, it has effects beyond mere imagining. After all, everyone uses their imagination. With witches who visualize, intent and focus takes the experience beyond imagination to create change in the world around them.
Most of us, when visualizing, reach a point where we cease to be able to control what we’re experiencing. This may sound scary, but for most of us, it is very subtle and not frightening at all. Much of energy work, after all, involves visualizing the flow of energy. This is, in the beginning of the exercise, wholly imaginative.
But, most of us find that, at a certain point, our visualization takes on a life of its own. While we can visualize and control (for example) energy flowing, it often does unexpected things or behaves in ways we did not predict.
So, visualization is more than just imagination. How does it work, then?
I think the explanation rests in the nature of energy itself. I myself believe that the force behind magick, the energy that makes it all possible, is conscious on some level. Not only that, but it reacts and responds to actions of our own consciousness. Thus, where our attention and focus goes, it follows.
This is true whether we’re visualizing, or just exercising our will. Of course, though, there’s inertia as well as other forces that direct this flow, as well. Thus, while we may be able to control it a bit, it will often do unexpected things. Again, this points to visualization indeed being “plugged in” to something beyond mere imagination.
Thus, visualization is a synthesis of sensing and directing energy. At least, that is my theory, and I believe that’s why it’s so effective for magick and spellcraft. The next article in this series will focus on using visualization and making the leap into sensing energy. Later articles will talk about directing it, grounding, centering, and more.
Witch tip:
If you don’t like speaking during spells, don’t.
If you don’t like doing jar spells, don’t.
If you don’t like using certain tools in rituals, don’t.
If you don’t like contacting spirits, don’t.
Don’t let people pressure you into thinking you have to do these things to produce effective spells.

When you do the absolute minimum and put your coke can into the recycling bin at the mall
Hello everyone. I hope you’re having a good day, and honestly? I hope you’ve no need of this spell, but I’m sharing it anyways, just in case!
This spell is designed to be used in situations where you are overwhelmed with negative emotions, but are not in a position to process them just yet. I’ve done this a few times over the years, and it can be very helpful in managing your emotions and getting things done in times of severe stress!
The goal of this spell is not to bind yourself or permanently cut yourself off from your emotions. Rather, the goal (and effect) is to chill yourself and your emotions a bit for a temporary period so that you can solve problems. Then, when the time is right, the chill thaws, and the emotions flow back in gradually so you can process them.
The best thing about this spell, though, is that it’s great quick magick to do when the need arises, and doesn’t require fancy tools. It relies solely on visualization. While you could bring materials into it (more about that soon!), the core of it is visualization and feeling energy, so it’s very easy to do discreetly and when necessary.
The only material I’d recommend using would be a small bit of ice. The ice can help with the visualization and channeling the forces involved, but it isn’t necessary.
If you are using ice, begin by touching it, feeling it, and putting the image of the ice strongly in your head. If you’re not doing that, do the same from memory, conjuring up images of cold, snow, ice cubes, and other elements of winter and freezing.
Hold those images in your head. It’s actually pretty important in this to localize the sensations and images to your head to begin with, and to not let them completely permeate your entire being. Just imagine that your head is a sort of ice block, or filled with snow, or other cold substances.
Then, when you have the image fixed strongly in your mind, begin to gently (very, very gently - I must stress this) flow the ice energy downwards from your head, so that it sweeps down through you chest and into your heart.
Don’t just dump it there - gently flow. You do not want to shock you system, but you do want to feel the flow of cold and coolness spreading through your chest.
There’s no need to pull it further than your chest. After the power has saturated your heart area, you should feel a bit calmer, and your emotions should be more in-check, less overwhelming.
When you’ve reached a safe point where you’re no longer forced to be in crisis mode, you can perform the same visualization, but with fire and heat instead of cold. Again, gently flow the energy down into your chest (again, very gently) and the emotions will “melt,” allowing you to slowly process them.
Weirdly, this spell does occasionally have unintended consequences, and seems to be actually able to alter weather patterns/temperature in you environment. Both of the most recent times I performed this spell were followed quickly by a cold snap here in the city. Just keep that in mind if you’re doing this!
I hope this spell is useful to you, but obviously I do hope you don’t often have cause to use it. I realize the concept of the spell (freezing yourself for a bit) seems scary, but think of it like cryogenic sleep for that part of yourself.
It can be quite helpful, and is especially useful to do right before falling asleep if your worries and concerns are preventing you from resting. Mostly, though, I recommend it when your emotions are in turmoil, but you have work/problem-solving to do!
Thanks for reading! Blessings to all who wish for them!
Back in middle school, my friends and I used a very simple coded language for writing secret messages. I saw some posts about needing to hide one’s beliefs from partners/bosses/parents so I wanted to share it with you! These would also be great to incorporate into sigils since they are simple lines and dots.
