Obviously feeling the atmosphere dropped, Brienna felt the room get cold literally thanks to her damned powers and placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to console him. She wasn’t about to make a comment about her son not showing up for class- that was something he and her were going to talk about but her face did fall drastically when he told her about Camden. “As in he’s still there or..?”
Colt swallowed hard, "He died in combat. I'm sorry." Colt said quietly, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and clearing his throat again before he continued, "A few years ago there was a supernatural, something like me but much worse... He attacked and killed several people here in town and... I'm sorry but your husband was one of them."
"Huh," Brienna could say that she was somewhat impressed. "A werewolf witch thing for a english teacher?" She sat down on the bathtub ledge beside him and crossed her legs. "He’s not failing is he? The last grades I remember were all E’s from his elementary teacher. A good little student, he was." She smiled slightly before looking back over at him. "Melissa McCall? I went to school with her, I think. Good enough for me, right now. What about Camden and my husband? Are they still at home?"
Colt's face dropped. He'd never met Isaac's father but he'd heard about him enough to know that even if he'd lived through the Kanima attack the woman certainly wouldn't find the same man she'd married waiting for her. "I... I don't know if I'm the best person to talk to about this." Colt sighed, trying to think of how to tell her. "Isaac's grades were excellent before he stopped showing up to class; one of the first creative writing pieces he submitted to me was a poem he'd written. The assignment was to write about something that changed your life, Isaac wrote about Camden going away to war and..." Colt cleared his throat, "And about him not coming back. I'm so sorry."
"If you know my… scent… and my sons then that means you much know him somehow. And knows where he lives too or at least knows where I can find him when he’s not at lacrosse." Brienna stood alert when he mentioned the absence of her son though. "My Isaac. You haven’t seen my Isaac at all? Can’t you.. can’t you use the landline to call him?"
"I don't have his number... I'm not allowed to. Believe it or not I'm actually his english teacher." he said, flashing a sheepish grin after looking down at his 20 year old body, "Definitely wasn't an easy job to get... Anyway I'm not allowed to have personal contact with my students outside of... teacher-y stuff. The schoolboard keeps pretty strict regulations on this stuff, especially with younger teachers. Your best bet would be asking Melissa McCall, last I heard he was living at her place with her son, Scott. Scott is Isaac's al- ...Well they're close." Colt finished, figuring that it would be best if Isaac explained the pack to his mother.
Brienna was about to comment something about his predicament when she caught wind of her sons name. “Isaac? And how would you know that Isaac is my son? Maybe I wanted to catch Camden first before him?” Leaning against the side of the bathtub, she looked down at the male, unafraid of having to use her fire if she needed to. “So I could move rooms and you wouldn’t follow me?”
Colt chuckled to himself nervously, "When I'm around someone enough I get familiarized with their scent and most children smell like their parents, plus I know that Isaac is an orphan so I just sort of put two and two together and guessed." Colt furrowed his eyebrows, "Come to mention it, though, I haven't seen Isaac at all recently..."
Send me 'come back to bed' for my character's reaction to being caught sneaking out the morning after.
"And what exactly is your kind because I am about to find my children and I wont be alone for very long so I’ give you permission to leave and whatnot.” Brienna finally found the bathrobe tucked under the towels and wrapped it around her body. “Proper,” she repeated, crossing her arms over her chest after letting the water in the tub run out. “Now, I don’t have the money or time to keep another body in this room so what do I do to set you free?”
"I'm not a genie." Colt chuckled softly to himself as he turned to face the redhead, "And I'm definitely not a vampire so your permission doesn't really do much for me. I'm a hybrid; witch and shifter, more specifically a werewolf. If you need to go find your kids than go ahead, I'm not stopping you. Isaac should be lacrosse right now so you can probably catch him there." Colt took a seat on the edge of the tub, look up at the woman with his sparkling amethyst eyes, "It's the room I'm attached to for whatever reason, not you. I'm fine just staying here, I can summon pretty much anything I'll need and you clearly don't have to worry about me stealing anything."
Rolling her eyes, Brienna stepped out of the bath before wrapping her towel securely around her and searching for the bathrobe that they were supposed to offer. “A century. I wouldn’t pin that on you but then again, I still look like I’m thirty-four so I’m not complaining. Now, tell me again why you’re stuck there?”
"I don't really know specifics but this isn't the first time it's happened, something to do with my kind and the resurrected. I was teleporting home and wound up here, tried to teleport out and I couldn't which means I can't cross the thresh-hold of this room for whatever reason. I suspect it's the same kind of magic that draws banshees to the dead, maybe the cosmos's way of making the resurrected feel less alone, sticking them with an 'I should be dead' buddy." Colt ran his fingers through his hair, "Are you proper?" he asked, trying his damnedest not to imagine the woman standing behind him stark naked- Trying, and failing.
"Thank you? And why, may I ask? Couldn’t you at least turn around until I am done and changed or are you ‘incapable’ of doing that too since it’ll feed your young and perverted mind?"
"Oh! Yeah, I can totally do that." Colt flashes a coy apologetic smile before quickly turning around, "But since all this weirdness is getting put on the table right out of the gate I should correct you; I don't know how long, exactly, you were dead for but going off of scent alone I can pretty safely say I'm at least a century older than you." The hybrid scratched the back of his neck, "The perverted bit, though, was probably closer to the truth." he admitted, staring at the wall.
"Oh really? You can’t move your feet out of my hotel room and lock the door so a mother of two and a wife can relax in peace after literally being resurrected? Please, tell me more."
"Well first off congrats on the successful resurrection, I've seen them turn out not so well. Secondly I am literally physically incapable of crossing that thresh-hold until the new moon, otherwise I totally would let you bathe in peace."
"Well, bye."
"Okay so here's the thing... I can't actually leave right now though... I mean I want to! Or not wa- That is, I mean I'm not complaining, you're very beauti- I just meant that you're clearly uncomfortable and I'd like to be able to just leave and let you go back to your whole momma bath thing, but I can't."
"Get out."
"I definitely feel like that's the best plan of action right now, yeah." He said, feet glued to the floor.
"Do you usual walk into a woman’s bathroom? In her hotel room?"
"Well I'd by lying if I said no, but this is probably the first time I've done it without an invitation..."
"Finally! A momma-worthy bubble bath!"
"Woah... Sorry. This isn't- I mean you're not- Sorry."
Ooc;
Nowadays I find myself looking for company in strangers
find myself looking for something familiar in the vacant stares and polite-yet-dismissive smiles on the subway
find myself filling my apartment with lost boys.
Nowadays I find myself getting lost in crowds,
Losing myself in other people,
Losing my mind in quiet train rides full of no one who has time for me.
A poem I just found in my shoe written on a torn piece of brown paper bag from my lunch today. I had a vague recollection of writing a poem on my really drunk train ride home but I had no idea what I wrote or where I put it. Sometimes it's nice to both surprise and impress yourself; way to go drunk!cole.
