A Perfectly Strange Story

By Jenny Bahn Virgin Suicides, Heathers, The Craft. These are just some of the modern references that come to mind when viewing a Michael Pudelka photograph. His images focus on young women hanging together in small groups, dressed in a specific, uniform way that lends them the appearance of a very pretty gang. Combined with dutiful attention to color blocking and composition, Pudelka’s images excel in the sort of strange storytelling that transcends the average fashion editorial.
