Born in Istanbul,Turkey to immigrant Turkish parents who came to the states when she was 12, in which she grew up in the poorest region in New York City with her two siblings. When she turned 18 though she managed to get several scholarships to be able to attend medical school and pursue her dreams of becoming a doctor. Sadly her parents were not able to fully support her and pay for tuition and she wasn’t able to go to her dream medical school right away. Her father would constantly gamble and get involved in petty crimes to be able to come up with some money for her school but he ended up getting conned out of a bet that determined the stability of his finances, putting her families’ financial status in debt, and her father in prison. With her father gone, Ceylin was left with alot of responsibility back home with her mother and two siblings. She wasn’t able to attend school until 3 years later when her father was let out of jail as her family had managed to pay off a lawyer.
She earned her doctorates degree after all her hard work and financial struggles. Ceylin had spent many years in pursuit of a PhD, especially knowing how much her parents had sacrificed for her when she was younger. She became a doctor, graduating from Princeton University with honors and worked at a hospital in New Jersey for about a year and a half. She later got engaged to her college boyfriend of five years when she was 26. Ceylin felt like she had the job, the marriage, the house—everything that she yearned for she managed to earn one way or another. Not everything was rainbows and happiness within her marriage though. The next three years of their marriage resulted in several missed calls, constant bickering, and coming home late at night. She found out that her husband was cheating on her with another coming home from a late night shift. The pair split up, and Cey felt like she wanted to move as far away from her ex and her family— knowing that they too were still depending on her financially.
Ceylin knows that her family is still in great debt back home and often tries to support them, sending them some money every now and then. She hopes that her siblings will be able to pursue their dreams like she did and constantly encourages them to come live with her in Paradisus as she has been benefiting from all the amenities that come with living on the island.
How she came to Paradisus:
The woman has only been on the island for three months, as she came to take on the new position at the local hospital as a cardiovascular surgeon. There was opportunity like no other on Paradisus, and when she heard she was rather relieved as it felt like she had a chance to start over. Her life back in New Jersey was never the same since she had gotten divorced.
Ceylin frequently donates her blood as payment, she doesn’t mind at all because of all the benefits she has gotten from the island and giving blood wasn’t a problem. She does find it tedious having to go in every week in which she is considering allowing for vampires to feed directly instead . She has never been fed from directly and is quite anxious about it.
Her perspective on the supernatural is neutral. She has learned to coexist and deal with them, as well as learning a thing or two about them.
Personality:
Ceylin is a bright and bubbly character. She is sweet and often times ends up caring too much about things, which leads her to spiral into overthinking. At the hospital she works well with others and makes sure that her patients are taken care of. Some of her strengths include communication, organization, team work, and public speaking. She is a person who despises being underestimated regardless of being a human. She can easily get frustrated when things don’t go her way and tends to be a bit of a smart ass. One of her fatal flaws is that she is as stubborn as a bull which can get her into trouble.
