Fun fact: Miraig’s “lucid world” design uses Darcy’s preference for earth tones, while their “dreamspace” design references Ray’s love for jewel tones.

Oh! Ha ha….not intentionally, no, but I see where you’re coming from.

It’s a valid and appropriate interpretation in any case.

I made the choices around his facial hair based on the whole teeth thing. I wanted the beard // mustache combo to be able to communicate some loose ties to those pearly-whites. Mimic the jaws that way - that sort of facial hair tends to follow that general guideline anyway.

And then a lot of other decisions following were very loosely informed by the image of a more Steampunk-adjacent ringmaster.

Korinne Kaiser, founder and CEO of big-tech frontrunner Kaiser Corp (( legally distinct from Kaiba Corp, LOL )) and the brains behind QUEEN - the Quantum Unilateral Energy-Efficient Neurolink. An android body for the use of the uber-elite for safety purposes. Can’t be gunned down during your black market dealings if it’s not your real body.

She’s also known as “Aunt Korie” to her goddaughter, Noelle. Korinne and Carol were once much closer than they are nowadays.

…For reference, her human body consumes absinthe mixed with (( totally not Monster )) energy drink, while the droid body most certainly DOES consume battery acid.

Behold, my SNEO.

The lore here: Samson G. Samson lives in the dumpster behind Kaiser Towers, property of Kaiser Corp. Once a very successful and prominent advertising mogul, he pretty much disappeared overnight…many folks just believe he suddenly wound up dead. A lot of big shots in the city can’t avoid having ties with the so-called “King of Spades” and his mob detail, after all. Well…he didn’t get that lucky. He has nerve and brain damage, but he’s been hellbent on finding a way to circumvent that for some time now, and he needs access to one Korinne Kaiser’s secret stash of QUEEN prototypes to do it.

Unfortunately getting his hands on a very unfinished QUEEN prototype will not cure any of his ails. It will, in fact, be a most unpleasant experience.

So TL;DR - SNEO is basically a prototype for Korinne // QUEEN’s android body. Neural link and all.

Where there is usually a blank void, facial recognition software will create a hardlight projection to fill out the “face” based on the user. The red light “pins” are there as a part of that system. They didn’t go far enough into work on this model to iron that out. So it’s actually very uncomfortable to begin with, but due to Sam’s delicate neurological state some wires got crossed and basically forced his face into a “smile” while his two bodies were trying to sync up.

The “strings” are part of a failsafe system meant to keep this generally unstable prototype body from killing anyone…user included. They are also made of hardlight.

More’s to come in regards to Spambert, so sit tight. I’ve also got *other* characters finishing up in the oven, so that’s nice.

Someone let me know if I’ve made a horrendous mistake by posting this baby up here, I don’t know enough about the AI apocalypse to be aware of every little microcosm and don’t have the spoons to deep dive or stop living my life over it, so.

Yeah, Ray’s main theme, whoopee. The track is called Cardboard Sunshine.

I’ll be using it for a test dialogue featuring Ray once enough preliminary talk sprites are done. I plan on using it during his introductory dialogue in the final version, so it seems fitting.

Who knows how much I’ll have to tweak it between now and whatever else I have to do for the project, but for now I consider it finished.

So I’ve started a much larger, long-term project here with the intent of practice.

I’m planning on doing a to-scale line up of all major canon characters, along with…basically as many OCs as I can get my grubby grabbers on.

Consider this your invitation to throw your freaks my way for what’s essentially a free art request. This is rare but BTB has its hooks in me *deep*. This past year especially, and carrying over into this year because it ENDED.

It’s silly but it was something that I fell into at the beginning of a much better chapter in my life (( ironically in 2020 )), and it ended up being way more meaningful to me than I could’ve ever thought when it started…but to be fair I already liked it and Worthikids’ other work a heck of a lot.

Kind of like how I didn’t realize how much David Lynch // his work meant to me until I burst into tears on receiving news of his death. I was terribly confused, LOL.

But yeah! I’ll hammer out more additions bit by bit - including my own Coppelia - when I wanna do BTB fan stuff but don’t have the steam to work on a more complex something-or-other.
