#DearWhitePeople Some of y’all will never truly understand how bad watching this story hurts. Don’t get me wrong the cast and crew of @whentheyseeus did a damn good job with their portrayal. @netflix brought to life and gave a story a much needed platform. My heart goes out to the Central Park Five, because we need a new word to describe the injustice that was done to these young men. I got to experience a small taste of what they went through—I’ve talked about it in vignettes between this and my other profile. Being falsely accused of a hideous crime has long-last, devastating, psychological pains that I haven’t quite figured out how to deal with. I know this is not my story, but in a way, it is. Every time a police officer pulls me over, I fear I will be turned into one of them, or #SandraBland. Every time I have a disagreement with a white woman at work, I think about which one of my exit strategies I will need to execute. I have a severe lack of trust of you white people to fix the system to make it equal to all. See white people, what you don’t understand is that your own fear and ignorance your ancestors planted—you need to have the power to unpluck. You need to stop benefiting from a system which continues to empower other white people to cry wolf while leaving a bloody trail of innocent black victims in your footsteps. You need to step up and offer more then reparations. You need to condemn the actions of #lindafairstein and #carolynbryant and other like them. There isn’t enough Fuck Yous for women like them—nor is there a phrase appropriate enough for them. I don’t think we’ve come up with it yet.
