Ok, so for starters just know that I don't comment on fics, I've done it like once b4 bc it was out of this world, and lemme just say this is my second time to comment bc this was amazing.

Like all I know is the movies and facts I looked up myself abt characters, and you really articulate the characters so beautifully, they never felt to far from original characterizations,  you just made it, like, better? Amplified them? All of the above u genius.

Some backstory, my friend and I revisited goblet of fire and noticed cedric diggory was hot ( bc all she she remebered was robert patterson  in his younger yrs in twilight  which visually she stated " didn't do him not a damn justice"?) and I was like lemme read hp fanfic bc surprising it never crossed my mind b4, and reddit suggested you. I do not read unfinished fanfic bc I'm an impatient girl, but I took the chance and I'm SO HAPPY I DID🥲 I don't usually do slowburns like this but this one was so good, the moments that were intimate were made all the worthwhile once I got to them. I was kicking my feet and squealing like I was there, I cried, I talked out loud when the plot was plotting, you really took me back to my teen yrs!!!! I just finished the latest chapter and I was BOOHOOIN the feels so many feelllsss, and it feels more realistic too, ugh I just love it all. And your OCs, I never read the books so I thought they were actual characters that never made it to the films🤣 You wrote this story that welll! I love them so much, Hidiyah is fr my homegirl, Evan is adorable, just *chefs kiss*

Cedric reminding Sirius of his bby bro? U stfu I bawled. There were so many moment I was in a glass case of emotion, my eyes are still puffy lol

Your writing is the type where fandom or not it's just good and I would buy it, that's how I felt abt the one other fic I hold close to my heart 😊

And then you had the nerve to post your playlist at the end of the chapter? I've literally been crying all day bc I'm on my period listening to Green Eyes by Nothing But Theives.....it's not even a sad song but I just think of these 2 smitten but haunted mfs!!! I ache for them😭😭😭 You got some bummer ones that I added to my playlist for when my heart can handle it better lol

2. I saw you said you make a PowerPoint of your story? How does that help, is it the story organization  or character organization?

It's so interesting learning ppls work styles, you've kept this story for years! God, you're amazing. I know you said you got a more demanding job, but please finishing this fic, take your rest etc when you need, if you feel burnt out take a screenshot or something of my message. You really did the damn thing with this one, your writers instincts are on point. Again, you're doing a ridiculously amazing job, I pray at the altar of your talented mind and fingers 😚😚😚😚

this is so very sweet, i'm sorry it's taken me this long to answer, im not really active on this blog anymore, but i really appreciate you taking the time to send me this ask, im a little mushy puddle on the floor rn

it is so funny to me that people mention the fic on other platforms like reddit and tiktok haha but i'm glad you gave it a shot! i myself wouldn't pick up a wip fic that's as long as SAFN so huge ups to you for powering through, i'm really flattered that you got up to date <3 it's insane to me that the story still resonates seven or so years after i started writing it.

i'm a big movie fan too! probably more of a fan with the movies than the actual books but there are things in the books that i do appreciate and like better (begrudgingly). but a lot of my inspo and affection for the series are related to films and the people who worked on it, i think i always talk about Daniel Radcliffe and how he made such good choices in the role.

it's so lovely to hear when people like Evan and Hidiyah, they're based on people i know so it's awesome to hear that people love 'em! also re: Nothing but Thieves, i love that band and that song so much, it fits them so well hahaha.

to answer ur questions:

1. Do you already know what ending will be or do you write as you go?

Yes but also yes! I know where I'm heading because I'm guided by the Order of the Phoenix book but writing Cedric in is a write-as-I-go situation, I have to often stall or weave stuff in between for overarching plot stuff to make sense. There's been a lot of character building/emotional set-up in the past but I'm hoping that now I can pick the plot back up and finally finish this godforsaken fic 💀💀

SAFN was always supposed to follow til the end of OoTP and then hm... i'm still debating about following through til the end of the HP series. as a nonbinary person, i don't really want to be writing HP fic anymore and i would like to close this part of my life haha.

Oh my god, yeah so because this is a canon-divergent au fic, I made and kept to a powerpoint just so I could plot what would changed with Cedric being alive.

Because SAFN is also a fix-it? fic (I wanted a kinder canon) I also used it to keep track of recharacterisations, how I wanted them to grow, or like what arcs I wanted to explore with Harry/Hermione/Ron/Cedric.

I only looked at this powerpoint for less than a year, 2018-2019? but it was really useful in developing the canon world and characters of SAFN, this was the first fanfic i've ever written so it was a good way to organise my thoughts.

this is so embarassing but i'll attach some photos (blocked out some things bc surprisingly there are still some relevant ideas), i need all of u to remember i was EIGHTEEN when i wrote this ok, i didn't even know i was trans

you can see what chapters i was thinking about haha. there's definitely things in there that i wouldn't incorporate now.

im in between the idea that 1.) one of them is good at art, or 2.) both of them suck ass.

if one of them Had to be good, i like the idea of it being Harry. it's the kind of hobby that's quiet, solitary, and requires basic supplies that he can either steal from Mr. Dursley's office or Dudley's room, or from muggle schools. not trained at all, so the strokes are messy and instinctive but i think he'd have the eye for detail. would really go for shading and contrast, not quite to the level of chiascuro, but light study would feature prominently if he had a sketchbook.

cedric would try and i think he could get certain parts right, like hair, hands (or fingers really), maybe even silhouettes? but he's a stick figure kinda guy, i think he'd make a stick figure of harry, draw the curly hair, glasses, scar and all and start blushing. then he'd blush even more drawing stick figure himself next to stick figure harry with smiling faces.
