Celeste Roddom

I am a visual artist from Logan City, Queensland, Australia. Completely self-taught, I specialise in pencil drawings, fusing traditional realism with modern and abstract subjects. How I choose a subject is very intuitive, simply, if I see an image that strikes up a certain feeling inside me, I have to get it down on paper. Why I love my medium is the ability to create something from nothing. In a piece of paper and a pencil, there are infinite possibilities.I have been drawing since the age of seven, and drawing professionally since 2004. Drawing has always been a passion of mine, and I am looking at driving it into a full grown career.I started my business venture in 2005 under the name 'The Art Chick', where I successfully sold original and print work, as well as commissioned works of art. During this period I spent most of my time pursuing my photography career, in which I specialised in wedding and portrait photography, including shooting over 20 weddings within Queensland and interstate. Most recently I have rebranded my business to my maiden name of Celeste Roddom in early 2014 and have started with a fresh slate to concentrate only on my passion of art.

I know a mother should never play favourites, but this sketch has always been my favourite piece. Tonight I sold it, in what has to be the most bittersweet moment of my art career. I'll miss it terribly, but it's so flattering and humbling to know that this will be up on someone's wall, being appreciated every day. I love you Jack! #theygrowuptofast

So, big changes ahead for me! I will no longer be working under the alias 'The Art Chick'. I will be continuing under my own name 'Celeste Roddom'. A new website will be launched in the coming weeks and I will be exhibiting my work in August, and new prints will be on the way!

The beautiful but VERY wet wedding of Sam and Mike at the gorgeous Maleny Manor on Sunday 13/04/2014. Even though the rain made the photos cut a little shorter than hoped, the mist made for a beautiful backdrop on the day.
