for 8 years now you have been the light that shines into me and through me, and this album (which might i add, is your best work so far) is no exception. for me this era really first began speaking to me upon reading your 30 in 30 article where you said that a little extra weight means more curves, shinier hair, and more energy. having struggled with eating disorders and general self-hatred toward my body all my life, your words spun me 180. since the article came out, i have started my self-love journey right alongside you, and i thought that was already pretty great. but then lover came out, and i was propelled even further into a self-love universe. tracks like london boy and cruel summer have me straight up jamming, because i know how long you’ve waited for a love that you could write a whole album about. but the song that spoke to me the most was i forgot that you existed. in a world where i can’t seem to find love, i forgot that you existed reminds me that i won’t die just because i’m alone, that i’ll be okay without it. it just exudes so much confidence and empowerment that i find it absolutely contagious, it gives me a peace i can’t fight. so thank you for writing i forgot that you existed. thank you for writing the entirety of lover. i don’t know life without you, and i never will. you made me proud, taylor. i love you.
