Calm and Quiet

I don't own Hetalia, and this is my first shot at posting an UsUk oneshot--

Scarce was his breathing as he held the blonde to his chest, tired ocean eyes glistening with tears caused by suppressed yawning. The stars were as vivid as a flame in the night, and a soft breeze gently took the loose leaves away from the trees. The cold couldn't find its way through the woods, but Alfred still felt the first signs of frost nip at his red cheeks and nose. He and Arthur shared a knit scarf, a wedding gift from Eduard and Natalya, which still faintly held the scent of the warm bedroom back at home.

Arthur was bundled up tightly in a thick blanket that he had insisted on bringing out tonight to their little cove, and Alfred didn't have the heart to stop him from taking it out when his precious husband sniffled once in the cold. They left no path behind themselves; two lovers in a quiet forest, and fireflies dancing on the edge of the small clearing. He could hear a trickle of water running over the pebbles that lead to a small brook nearby, but the frogs had long since went into hibernation. For a moment, all he could focus on was Arthur's soft breathing, and the warmth of his hand, which had slipped under Alfred's shirt before he fell asleep.

Alfred never was someone to stay so silent, but it seemed that all at once, everything gently became known to him. It was as though he was on the outside looking in, taking the place of one of the many fireflies that clung to the last warmth of the Autumn before it transitioned into Winter. They nearly blended into the dim glow of the night, and were to be unknown by the world until morning came again.

And until dawn rose, he held Arthur closer than he did before, burying his face into his lover's soft hair and breathing in. He still had messy hair from when he tousled it earlier, but it remained in a gentle frame on his face. Alfred could hardly make himself breathe, lest it wake Arthur up when he was so peaceful. But, as it came with the calm and quiet, Alfred drifted off with him.

The Magnificent Toy Emporium

Alfred is in Northern Ireland on vacation, and makes a quick stop to pick up a souvenir for his brother. He walks into a toy shop to meet the mysterious owner, who’s just as lonely as he is strange. Usuk. //

Alfred jogged down the brick path as rain fell, looking at the buildings on either side of him as he ran.  He scanned the signs hanging from them, looking for one in particular. The sign, and by extension the shop he was searching for was called the Magnificent Toy Emporium. It was somewhat hidden away, squeezed between the rest of the side-by-side buildings on the street. Alfred never really saw any advertising for it, but it’s reputation spoke for itself. The store was famous, but there was only one location. The Magnificent Toy Emporium resided in the Newcastle of County Down. It had opened there, and it hadn’t moved locations since the first day. Though, Alfred felt that surely a store as well known as this could stand its ground in large cities. Or, it could start a chain of toy stores. But, hey, what did Alfred know about running a business. All he needed to do was grab something for Matthew and head back. He didn’t need to worry about keeping the shop’s doors open. The rain was starting to come down harder, so Alfred was thankful when he saw the hanging sign of the toy store rocking back and forth overhead. He took a glance at the building as he went in.
