also. after our social media step-away we came back and made a very strict line in the sand to unfollow anyone that was regularly putting discourse/misery on our dash and. after only a few days of that and then following topic specific blogs tumblr is completely usable again.

i think if anything my takeaway from this is that plenty of social media is perfectly fine, there are obviously exceptions (like ones driven by site algorithms rather than by who you follow) but it can be very easy to let your user experience get out of control and put you in a bad mood.

i think especially because some people take mutuals very personally.... but at the end of the day it is your fun time on the internet, and an internet mutual is really just that. you don't know them personally and while it might be a little sad, you can't make going online something you begin to dread just to maintain that pseudo-relationship.

the other thing i learned is... i really am glad to talk to my friends more! i feel collectively we have a very good balance of friend time to personal time now.

quiet blogging time at the end of the day is my favorite.... i do also like writing in my journal but my journal does not have new pictures to look at that i dont put there so. both is nice
