Wow, it’s been a minute! But have a pick of my main girl Lucy! I’m still banging out what kind of art style I want this whole deal to be (and no, I haven’t forgotten this webcomic, I’ve just been pretty busy), but lately I’ve been digging this really soft look, but that might be difficult to maintain for a really long time. 😅

I was going for a sort of “Lunar Goddess” look for this, even though Lucy’s a mortal. I think the colors suited her and went with the vibe I was going for. 😄

I have a bunch of characters I need to finalize designs for, so hopefully I can start that process on here soon!

Fun fact about Weyland; he has a lovely cat named Gertrude. If she likes you she’ll let you call her Gertie. She is the queen of the castle, and if she graces you with her presence, you know you have been truly blessed. Should she deign to sit in your lap, you know the gods are on your side. 

But in all seriousness, Gertrude doesn’t have any magic powers or anything; she’s just a very aloof, wonderfully soft cat. She is rather elderly for a cat though. Perks of being owned by a god, you take a very long time to die, if you ever do.

Some basic information about our two protagonists! I kind of want to write out a bit of their backstories on here, but I also don’t want to spoil too much so you guys will have some surprises when it’s finally done. What do you guys want me to do? Let me know!

Some Basic Info

So some of you may be wondering, what even is the plot of this webcomic? A valid question, and one I’m here to answer. 

I don’t fully have the plot hammered out yet, but the basic idea is that Lucy Monroe, our lovely protagonist and struggling author, gets hired by our other protagonist, Weyland, to be the social media manager for his bar, The Spider’s Webb. Little does Lucy know, Weyland is actually a newly formed god, who has only been in existence for about 29 years. Cue shenanigans to follow, as Weyland tries to keep up the charade that he’s a normal human, and Lucy starts realizing that weird stuff happens around her boss. And that’s the premise so far. There might also be a murder mystery eventually? I don’t know. 

Now you may be asking, what is Weyland even the god of??? Well, I’m glad you asked. Weyland is, as far as he knows (he’s had very little interaction with other gods, and has spent most of his life surrounded by humans, so who’s to say?) the God of Human Connections, Patron to Lost Souls. Along with basic magical powers, he can physically see the connections between people, and should he want to, he can manipulate or even sever those connections. He also has a tendency to attract lost things, literally and metaphorically, and he acts as a guide or temporary protector until you’re set on your way again. For instance, he finds lost coins or items all the time when he wanders around the city, and he keeps them in a little lost and found in front of his bar. But also he often meets people who are at a crossroads in their life and he gives them advice or acts as a sounding board while they figure it out for themselves. It’s why he was initially attracted to Lucy; she was pretty lost in her life and he felt as though he had to help and protect her until she was set on her way. 

An idea I’m working with is that at any one time, everyone in his bar is connected to each other in one way or another, but idk, that might get complicated at times. 

There’s a lot more ideas where this came from, but this post is getting pretty long so I’ll end it here. If you guys have any thoughts or suggestions, please let me know! Thanks!

It’s finally done! Many thanks to @halibutton for the support an motivation; they really kept this project going! After I said in a post I was interested in maybe making a webcomic, they really liked my idea, so I decided to make a test page of what the style might be. This is the main character Lucy, who I drew the other day. This was really fun to do and a great learning experience, so maybe if I nail down some character and plot I’ll actually turn this in to something. I think it turned out pretty good!

Here he is, my boy Weyland! He’s the co-star alongside my girl Lucy in my 2017 camp nano story. He’s really fun to write, but I don’t draw him as much as Lucy cause I had trouble nailing down his hair. Apparently what I settled for was a mullet. 😆😅

I’ve Finally Done It!

I’ve finally decided to get serious about my webcomic idea that I’ve had for a while. It’s tentatively called ‘Center of the Webb,’ and this blog will be dedicated to the planning of the comic for now, and maybe will be where it’s posted in the future. Updates will probably be sporadic, but I’ll do my best to make them semi-regular. 

Information on plot and characters to follow soon, and I’ll also be compiling art I’ve already done for the comic here as well.
