Part Time Dilemma
At WWE Crown Jewel Brock Lesnar recaptured the Universal title in....well the worst possible way possible. The issue I have with it isn’t just that he never shows up but the missed opportunities many of the hard working full timers should have had and can’t get. Yeah, I get the chance to have a 2 sport champion, but at least make it look like he earned it. In the end all we can do is wait and see how the story unfolds.
Lesnar has beaten Strowman multiple times before. He shouldn’t help to beat him again. Then on the other side of it, Strowman has been in a car crash and put in a trash compactor among other things only to get come back wanting more. We don’t need another impressive lost. The belt to the back of the head by Corbin shouldn’t have been a game changer. There’s no doubt about it Lesnar is top tier talent. He just needs to show and prove.
I thought with the events leading up to Crown Jewel, Strowman would have won the title which would have been a perfect lead into a feud with McIntyre. There was a time where there just wasn’t enough talent on Raw to keep the title hunt interesting. That just isn’t the case anymore. Balor, Rollins, Ambrose, Strowman, McIntyre, and Reigns are just a few that can put on some show stealing matches, and there’s a growing talent pool ready and waiting in NXT. Lesnar as champ means those once in a lifetime moments on Raw are out the window which really sucks because with his upcoming UFC fight just about a certainty, expect him to not be around much if at all after Survivor Series.
As always with WrestleMania season approaching, WWE usually starts to involve the biggest of names they can muster together, but Lesnar also has his UFC title match, which many are upset about, coming up most likely in January. This will be the first time in history a reigning WWE heavyweight champion competes for the UFC heavyweight title. With the opportunity to be the 1st 2 sport champion, I would have preferred that Lesnar beat Strowman clean. He’s got the skills and talent to do it and has done it in the past. The way they did it made it look like they just gave him the belt. That just seemed like a wasted match in what could have looked like a signature win and shown him as the beast Heyman claims him to be heading into his imminent UFC match.
These are just some of my thoughts. I’m just a fan who loves the sport and feels like Raw wrestlers deserve better. All we can do is wait and see how this all unfolds. Crown Jewel didn’t do anybody any favors and didn’t give anyone reason to be excited(in regards to the Universal title). They could and should have done so much more with it, but hey, hopefully we can get a full time champ sometime soon after the Lesnar UFC match. It would really be such a shame though if he loses that UFC match, and all of this was for nothing.
