Halloween Themed Crochet Earrings
So here are two simple patterns for a ghost and pumpkin, which I wear as earrings but can be used for other things too!
All that’s needed is 3 weight yarn of whatever color you intend to make these, 4 and 4.5 mm crochet hooks, scissors, stuffing, and a darning needle.
Abbreviations for stitches and instructions for mini picot are at the bottom.
With orange yarn and 4 mm crochet hook, make a magic circle.
R 1: Ch 1, sc 10, join to first sc (10)
R 2: Ch 1, *sc 1, inc 1*, repeat ** until end of round, join to first (15)
R 3-4: Ch 1, sc all, join to first (15)
R 5: Ch 1, *sc 1, sctog*, repeat until end of round, join to first (10)
R 6: Ch 1, sctog all, join to first, fasten off (5)
With your darning needle, take the tail and weave it through the 5 stitches, then tighten it. Weave the end into the base.
With green yarn, make a magic circle.
R 1: Ch 1, sc 10, join to first sc (10)R 2: Ch 1, *{sc, mini picot, sc} into the next stitch, ss*, repeat until end of round, join to first, fasten off leaving long tail (15)
If you want the loop at the top (which I use to attach these to earrings), use the initial tail and thread it through just to the side of the magic ring base to the outer side. On the opposite side of the magic ring, thread it back through, leaving it a bit slack. Tie a few knots in the tail so that it can’t slip out (flipping it inside-out can help) and trim the remaining end if needed.
Attach the stem to the top of the pumpkin body, then weave ends in.
With white yarn and 4.5 mm crochet hook, make a magic circle.
R 1: Ch 1, sc 10, join to first sc (10)
R 2-4: Ch 1, sc all, join to first (10)
R 5: Ch 1, *sc 1, inc 1*, repeat until end of round, join to first (15)
R 6: Ch 1, *sc 2, inc 1* , repeat until end pf round, join to first, fasten off (20)
Add eyes with black yarn and darning needle between rounds 3-4.
For loop, use the initial tail and thread it through just to the side of the magic ring base to the outer side. Make sure that this is parallel to the eyes. On the opposite side of the magic ring, thread it back through, leaving it a bit slack. Tie a few knots in the tail so that it can’t slip out.
With white yarn, make a magic circle.
R 1: Ch 1, sc 10, join to first sc (10)
R 2: Ch 1, *sc 1, inc 1*, repeat ** until end of round, join to first, fasten off leaving a long tail (15)
Use the tail to attach this to the bottom of the ghost body, threading through a stitch on the bottom then up through the stitches of round 5 of the body. Add stuffing as you go along, then weave in the tail after the bottom is fully attached.
- Abbreviations & Mini Picot -
Inc - two single crochet into the same stitch
Sctog - sc over two stitches by going into the first stitch, yoing, and pulling through. Go into the next stitch, yo and pull through the two loops on the hook.
Mini Picot - chain 2, go into the back of the fist chain, yo, and pull through that and the loop on the hook.
Congrats! Now you have a little pumpkin and ghost. If you have any questions feel free to ask or if you see any mistakes let me know.
I use these as earrings with small hoops and wear one of each, but you can also make matching sets. They’re extremely light despite their size.
Look forward to more patterns in the future!
