Schneider National
Ok, so I wouldn’t typically do this, but I need to get this information out there, and off my chest. Also I’m not knocking Schneider as a whole, everyone will have a different experience at a company, so some may have good experiences at Schneider.
That being said, I did not. I had to quit after only 3 months. I was running 2,300-2,600 miles a week but my weekly checks were barely clearing $450 a week. Which right there was bad enough, going from a job that I was making $55,000 a year to pretty much making the equivalent of minimum wage.
In addition to that, I was being poorly managed. I was based out of the Des Moines operating center. And I don’t know if it was them or if it was just poor planning on the “box planners” part or what, but I had 4 home times in that 3 months, 3 of 4 were import that I be home on time, 2 doctors appointments and a dentist appointment, the one non important time was the one time I was home on time. the 3 import home times, which were “guaranteed” home time, I was home 2-4 days later. They enjoyed sending me to the east coast, most commonly Pennsylvania, then not getting me loaded for another 2 days, or getting me local runs, which really made it hard to get miles, but I still managed to get good miles.
Another issue I had with Schneider, is I’m a very independent person, which is why I wanted to go over the road in the first place. But they constantly had to micro manage everything. I didn’t go a day, home time included that they didn’t call at least once, and at least 3 messages on the Qualcomm asking how things were going, asking if I remembered this or that. Acting like you’re a fucking child.
Plus there were a few smaller issues, that I won’t go into right now. But yeah, I needed to get that off of my chest, and give anyone that reads this, that may be considering Schneider my experiences with them, so they don’t get false expectations with them.
