I’m not a misandrist I have man friends and sometimes I even read books by men I’m very open minded
“It’s painful when I hear/see quotes from men, waxing poetic about how violent and inhumane “we” “humans” are “to each other”. When historically and globally, males account for the vast, vast majority of violence. Mostly against women. I used to wonder, how could these men – fancying themselves profound and in-on Truth – possibly call “humans” violent when they are technically the source? But I guess that’s what happens when the only people you consider humans are other men.”
— Alicen Grey (via ourwildways)
I just ate one
You can lie when you name things
People are so indoctrinated by patriarchy that mentioning something neutral like "men on average are physically stronger than women" will get you accused of saying women are inferior to men. Like, nobody said that, you are the one who believes physical strength equals worthiness and value as a human being and is projecting it on completely neutral assumptions.
This is my exact problem with the body positivity movement and the “everyone is beautiful” bullshit. We could’ve had an actually meaningful movement built around making a real point about how we shouldn’t build our whole society around visual aesthetics but no!!! Fuck that when we can just bitch and whine about how we should keep the fucking beauty standards and the societal obsession with beauty and just expand the strict beauty standards to fit everyone! That’s totally just as good and not a massive fucking problem! Seriously, I just can’t with this shit, and then there’s the part where no one on this planet genuinely believes in their heart of hearts that every human is beautiful. You will never convince me that like Donald Trump is beautiful, for example. Fucking bullshit.
You ever think about many peices of media have zero women and thats just perfectly normal but if a peice of media has an all female cast people get... like that? Women should be allowed to kill over this btw
same but it's black people
That's right
A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Let’s fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
People who work within a system: okay so studies show that the normal system works 90% of the time, but because it’s very bad when it doesn’t work, we’ve set up a process to manage those outliers. We need six well-trained workers to run the system 100% of the time without any serious incidents.
CEOs and politicians, every time: Well i just saw it go right twice in a row which means the normal system which you say works 90% of the time actually works 100% of the time. We’re cutting the team down to one person pulling 18 hour shifts without breaks
If they even wait to see if it works once, it's lucky. If they care whether it works, it's astonishing. If they know how it works, it's fiction.
One like nitpick thing that drives me crazy is when people call Blue Whales the largest whales or the largest living mammals or some shit like that
Because yes that is true. But when you frame it like that you are completely disregarding the absolutely batshit reality that Blue Whales are the largest animals that have ever existed on earth through the entire history of the planet and they are alive right now today
This version of the progress flag legitimately looks so nice
Gilbert baker rainbow, huge intersex circle, the design is cluttered but in a good way 10/10
[ID: A version of the progress pride flag with a large purple intersex ring outlined in gold, looping through pink, blue, brown, and black chevrons on the side, which have a base of white. The horizontal stripes are: pink, red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, and purple. End ID.]
It's happening the morphing into Ohio
Girls. That's the original image. We've come full circle. It's always just been the state of Ohio
Love when people accidentally recreate the meme like with the "fuck this post and happy birthday Sonic" one
The rule could have heavy impacts towards trans people across society.
Last week, the Trump administration quietly released a sweeping new federal rule that would use funding threats to force institutions across the country to reject transgender people. The 400-page proposed regulation would codify the administration's anti-trans executive orders into binding federal policy, imposing a blanket prohibition on federal funds going toward "gender ideology"
The proposed rule, formally titled "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance," rewrites the government-wide framework governing all federal grants across every agency. Among its most consequential provisions, it requires that before a federal grant recipient can receive money, the award must pass a "pre-issuance review" conducted by a political appointee—not a career expert or peer reviewer—to ensure it is "consistent with applicable law, Federal agency priorities, and the national interest." The regulation explicitly instructs these appointees to screen for "denial by the recipient of the sex binary in humans or the notion that sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic." [...] An institution that acknowledges transgender people exist—through its policies, its training, its healthcare, its bathroom access, its HR procedures, its name-change processes—could be deemed to "deny the sex binary" or to “support the notion that sex is mutable” and have its federal funding blocked.
Importantly, the gender ideology prohibition has no age limitation—hospitals could be targeted not just for providing care to minors but for providing gender-affirming care to adults, because prescribing hormone therapy to a transgender patient of any age could be deemed promoting the belief that "sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic."
THIS IS OPEN TO COMMENT UNTIL JULY 13, 2026
This is all very bad and horrible, but I want to be clear that it’s worse and more sweeping than just eliminating trans research.
This torches everything. And I do mean everything.
A very abbreviated list of its ramifications include (but are not limited to):
ending funding for ALL DEI related initiatives
allowing the government to terminate grants at any point for any reason
preventing researchers from publishing, going to conferences, and being part of academic societies
requiring that topics must support the president’s agenda.
What this means, and if anything I’m under selling it, is the death of science and research in America. It allows the government to restrict any topic they please at a whims notice, putting officials who have no background in the topic in charge of deciding funding continuity. It controls what gets researched and if/how researchers are allowed to share their discoveries. There are no books to burn if the government never allows them to be written. This is fascism plain and simple.
Please, if you only ever write one public comment, this is the one to do.
Bringing back this guide to writing an effective public comment. This gives you the basics you need to know, what you need to include, a basic outline you can follow, etc.
Public comments are not a vote, it is a chance for you to say "here is an issue with this law I think you need to address" and provide justification for legal challenges if it goes forward:
"Comments raise the bar that agencies have to meet when making a rule; “if an agency fails to adequately respond to significant, relevant comments in a final rule, members of the public may seek to challenge the rule in court on that basis and claim it could be struck down.ˮ"
But also, if possible, don't stop at writing a comment. Don't stop at calling your representatives. You should ideally be talking to people in your community about this and organizing resistance on-the-ground; there is a good chance people are already doing that even if you aren't hearing about it.

personally I am of the opinion that vegans who are like “the way our food system currently works under capitalism on a large scale is exceptionally cruel to all animals including humans and is not sustainable, so I’m doing what I can to make the most ethical choices available to me about what I eat and encourage others to do the same” are generally very reasonable people who I agree with in spades. but vegans who seem to think human beings are not themselves animals who are ultimately also part of the food chain but instead some kind of other paternalistic higher entity that can never engage in ethical and sustainable hunting practices (and especially the fringe I’ve seen who think other carnivorous animal predators are also evil and need to be eliminated) are people I regard as foolish at best if not actively anti-indigenous and racist
Back when I was still on Facebook, there was this girl I went to high school with who was a rabid white girl “every person in the whole world needs to go vegan” vegan. She’s the sort of person who approaches veganism the same way conservatives come at their pro life bullshit, literally valuing animals more than human lives because they aren’t subject to our morality so therefore they’re just more “pure” or whatever. But she did make a post saying very clearly that every single person on this planet should be vegan and when I replied like “what about homeless people” this dumb bitch deadass was like “obviously I wasn’t talking about them 😡” Even if she wasn’t, all you need is the absolute most elementary understanding of agriculture to know that trying to make everyone go vegan across the world would literally kill billions of people, and you know who those people would be? Probably not some privileged little white girl from Cape Cod.
But seriously, the only reason we’re able to have such a huge global population is because Fritz Haber figured out how to manufacture ammonia to put nitrogen back into the soil and make our current big ag even possible. However, that alone is a temporary solution that will only get us so far before it fails, and it is already starting to fail. So basically, one guy made it possible for the global population to grow like crazy but we’re all living on borrowed time because of the nitrogen situation with big ag, and people like this chick from high school want to make that happen faster and murder billions of people because animals are cute. The hill I will die on is that vegans like this (just the ones like this - not every vegan!!!) are entitled, genocidal, classist racists who decided to go with veganism instead of all the traditionally conservative shit. Fuck them.
PREACH!
I fully endorse this. I have no intention of pretending Canon is come kind of bible when it’s also written by people who are flawed and can make crazy choices. Just because they thought of a concept doesn’t mean they can execute it well or understand the emotional/moral themes that can tie in.
Any fictional work can be interpreted differently by audiences, or portrayed differently by someone else. Sometimes there are people who have lived through something a character is going through that the author may not have, and would understand the subject better.
It’s not just ‘well this is how it is.’ It’s “that’s how it is from ‘THAT’ persons perspective, but ‘I, think logically they should be have this way-“
And I get it, sometimes there’s a character or series that’s pretty solid and you don’t want to mess with it, that’s fine. Superman is who he is because of his qualities- but even characters like Superman have had different writers and inconsistent portrayals. So I approach things from a comic point of view.
Which is along the lines of what Stan Lee said regarding people trying to power scale- which is whoever wins in a fight is pointless because whoever he wants to win, wins. They’re just throwing out comics and canon is all over the place depending on what you’re picking and choosing half the time. You do what you want with it.
Fiction is all about justification. If you can write your way around something it doesn’t matter worth a damn what someone else thinks would happen. And that includes the author. Yes, we know the original source material may be a particular way, no one’s gonna debate a series of events happened (~usually,) but that doesn’t mean the reasons,or methods, or emotions behind them, or the reality of the audience, or even the rationality of the writer aren’t questionable. And if I want to imagine a world where a character does something differently or something else happened to skew their path, then I’m going to do it.
I have seen a massive chunk of fanon works and thoughts that are just outright better than the source material, and honestly we should celebrate that fact and allow people to enjoy it to the fullest potential. Because we aren’t limited by budget, or time constraints, and we have a lot of resources to study and a lot of people to collaborate with to come up with ideas, and we are trying to make the series new and enjoyable in a way we and others might like or want to explore. And that’s a good thing.
The second you publish something it’s not yours anymore, it’s an idea anyone can interpret.
So then can we maybe keep this in mind with stuff like Harry Potter?
I know it's the one thing that everyone wants to completely demonize, but the lengths people have gone to in fanworks to fix all the problems that are baked into canon is admirable. I have no interest in defending people who still to this day choose to give her even a penny of their money, but I am really sick of this thing where people are so dead set on wanting any interest at all whatsoever in this work to mean that you're just as bad as the potterheads who spend all their money on Cameo, Universal, and merch. It's time for some nuance, and I will stand ten toes down on the point that just reading a fucking fanfic or pirating shit in the privacy of your own home is not hurting anyone. Hell, even writing and posting a fanfic isn't hurting anyone. At this point in time, everyone engaging with that fandom is an adult and knows full well what sort of person JKR is and what she stands for, so I do think it's downright unreasonable to act like saying anything at all about HP on the internet is going to make other people go spend money on her shit that they wouldn't otherwise and that's all your fault.
More to the point, JKR really, really wants it to be true that just because someone likes HP at all, in any capacity, that means they support every point she's ever made, and standing here and just agreeing with her that that's true, handing her that power, is not a good thing and it's not accurate. The broad assortment of fanon material is proof of that! The people do not agree with her and instead of just freely dissenting however they choose, we have people on this stupid hellsite trying to insist that everyone needs to only respond in one, very rigid, very black-and-white way. I've already deleted all the HP fanfic I ever wrote and divorced myself from the fandom, not just because of people on here telling me to but because I finally read the books and hated them so much, but I am sick to death of seeing people conflate things that are not even remotely on the same level. Going back and rereading a fanfic you already left kudos on ten years ago is not the same as donating to an anti-trans hate organization!
Rowling wants to have the concept of Harry Potter on lockdown, and people on this site want to just let her have whatever she wants. The truth is that Harry Potter has always appealed to queer folks, including trans and genderqueer folks, because her inconsistent messaging has its moments. You really can't tell people, especially the ones who are directly affected by the shit JKR is spewing, what they can and cannot relate to and how they can and cannot do it. I know because it was my own experience reading those God-awful books for the first time, back in college, that it's easy to read HP and dismiss it as a very hateful shit mess, but that's not all there is to it and it is valid that some people walk away feeling like there's something there worth having and like they want to fix it.
Like genuinely, by this point, I do really hate Harry Potter and the only reason I was ever able to like it is because I only read fanfic and never read the books, but watching everyone on here lose their shit over it, beyond the scope of what is reasonable, and try to fully control others' actions to the point that it's basically thought police does actually make me want to delete my Tumblr. If you want to go off about people actually still renting the movies or buying her shit or playing that stupid game, then that's great and I'll join you, but if you're literally going to tell people that engaging with fanworks or literally just pirating shit is just as bad, you can fuck off and I'm so fucking done. That's not helping anyone, and I have no patience for that shit anymore. I understand wanting to sort everyone into tidy categories of "safe" and "unsafe" because it is so convenient and it does feel good, but you can't reasonably do that in real life and I'm sick of this hellsite enabling people to be entitled as fuck like this.
