By the time Sansa wraps the Hound’s cloak around her as the Blackwater battle reaches its climax outside, Sandor Clegane is long gone from her room. This illustration presents them in the same space and links their two actions – Sandor’s removal of the cloak as he leaves and Sansa’s later putting it on – in order to symbolically reflect the importance of the bloody cloak to their relationship and how it connects them to each other across space and time, becoming an emblem of comfort, hope, and intimacy.
