apparently, “Silent Third Person Self-Talk Facilitates Emotion Regulation”
i was wondering why, especially when I am super stressed, i use the pronoun “we” when referring to myself. (“we can do this” “we got this” “we’ll be alright”)
but turns out using non-first-person pronouns (not using i, me, or my) during self-talk “can improve emotion regulation and self-control by facilitating self-distancing and reducing egocentric bias.”
