The Real Deal - Fashion Fact
Has anyone ever noticed how people only love the ocean when the sun is out? Once darkness settles, breeze kicks in, and sharks come out to play - no one wants to swim among it’s waves. And I hope I have never made someone feel like that… As if they’re only admirable in light. As if their darkness wasn’t worth exploring. Because it’s when the sun sets that I sit on the shore, and stare at the ocean in awe.

"There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life." "Fearlessness may be a gift but perhaps the more precious thing is the courage acquired through endeavor, courage that comes from cultivating the habit of refusing to let fear dictate one's actions, courage that could be described as 'grace under pressure'- grace which is renewed repeatedly in the face of harsh, unremitting pressure." #AungSanSuuKyi #WHD2015 #WorldHumanitarianDay #ShareHumanity #CestEthica

A photo of beautiful baskets from Kwa-Zulu Natal. Weaving is an important source of income to the women in the Zulu villages. Size and design of each basket may often reflect the recipient's social status. A triangular motif is a male symbol. A diamond motif is a female symbol and a continuous band of zigzag pattern is called the "Spears of Shaka" named after the famous Zulu king, Shaka Zulu. The meaning of these symbols were traditionally expressed with beads. In the old days, baskets were made for utilitarian purposes and had minimal decorations. Decorative Zulu basket weaving is a recent extension to this beaded art form. It conveys the Zulu continuity with their culture, traditions and symbolism.
