Tippi Degré was born 1990 in Nambia to freelance wildlife photographer and filmmakers- Alain Degré and Sylvie Robert, a couple who chose to relinquish their lives in France for the freedom of nature in Southern Africa. Tippi’s first ten or so years of life were spent roaming barefoot through the Nambian bush and desert with wild animals and tribespeople. Along her adventures, she befriended Abu her “brother”, a 28-year old elephant, a leopard nicknamed J&B, crocodiles, lion cubs, giraffes, mongoose, ostrich, meerkats, a baby zebra, cheetas, snakes, parrots, bullfrogs and more. She was raised amongst the natives who taught her how to survive on roots and berries and hence gave her practical experience of real life in the bush. To this day, Tippi considers herself an African, as this is where her heart and fondest memories remain.

Her last year of childhood was spent in Madagascar and at the beginning of Tippi’s teenage years, they moved to Paris, France. Tippi joined a state school but was soon homeschooled and after publishing a few books, she gained celebrity status. Her longing to return to Africa sparked the production of her documentary “Bridging the Gap to Africa“, showing astounding footage from her years of life in Southern Africa and her return to Africa to meet old and new friends after spending her teenage years in Paris.

After her return to Africa, Tippi and her parents made six documentaries for the Discovery Channel. Tippi returned to Paris to continue to foster her love for nature and wildlife roots through her studies in cinema.
