Self Initiated Report

I tried out my advert on to a billboard site that allowed me to place my advert in to a live billboard. I am really happy with the outcome and think that it really advertises martini.

Printing

Today I have been printing my final image, it was much harder than I thought it would be. I found that the left images above kept making the glasses have a slight yellow effect, which I could not get rid of. These were printed using photoshop colours but I could not see this yellow tint on the image on the computer. The right images were used with the printer controlling the colours, which did not show this yellow tint. I have collected the 4 best ones and will be asking people, which one they prefer. I will then mount the final piece for hand in on mount board. I chose mount board because I cannot imagine an advert being placed in a frame.

Final Image.

This is the final outcome of my advert and I am really happy with it I am going to run through it with John tomorrow to see if there is anything I need to change. If everything is fine I will then be printing tomorrow at the uni printers. The reason I have decided to print at uni is because I have not had the chance to print in this final year and I would like to experiment with it one last time. I am now going to place this image in to the billboard online to see what it would look like in real life.

The first type I tried was this and I feel that this does not do the advert justice and I need to find a type that really stands out and is slightly different.

Ideas for Slogan's 

I started playing around with the word 'explode' and these are the ideas I came up with. Out of them all I really like the slogan Flavours That Explode so I am going to start playing around with the type on my image.

Martini Advert

I still need to come up with a slogan but this is everything so far. I am really pleased with the outcome and all the hard work put in to this project. I like how on some parts on the glass it actually looks like the glass has smashed like on top on the blue martini. I have tried the martini logo in the centre but feel it looks much better in the corner.

Progress

I have managed to complete my objective using Photoshop and feel I have done really well, and have learnt a lot through watching tutorials, which I now feel confident about using in the future. My next objective is to create a slogan for the advert, I did think that just having the logo was simply and works but I feel adding a slogan will really make the image work. Especially as most advert/billboards have slogans.

More Experimenting

I decided to try out my original idea in Photoshop just to see the outcome and I was right I did not achieve the look I was going for. I found this extremely hard to shoot as I found the RX300 make the strobe lights not noticeable. So I merged two images together on Photoshop with the shot I got of the strobe lights on to the shot of the martini glasses. I do quite like the shot but I found it difficult making the images stand out more.

Email confirmation from John to say that using this glass image is acceptable but I am going to be talking to him on Tuesday to discuss further but I am going ahead with using this effect.

Experiment 

This is an experiment I have done using my image from the shoot I did the other day. Again I cannot get the martini’s to really stand out so I have to do more research, I also need to speak to John to see if I can use this glass image over the top as it is not my image so I am not sure If i can use it for my final piece.

Idea

I have come up with a better idea for my martini ad and decided that I am going to look in to tutorials on photoshop to create what I am looking for. I am looking in to tutorials on youtube to help me add glass effects on to my images as I feel this will make the advert look 100 times better.

This is my second idea which I am going to play with in photoshop. Using a shattered glass effect over my image.

Tutorial 

I started looking at how to create the water effect through photoshop on Youtube, I found this was a struggle as I didn't have the specific brushes available on my version of Photoshop so my experiment did not go as planned. I decided to take a different approach and start research the glass effect.

These are a few images from my shoot today and I found an image that was taken whilst the lights were on in focus, which I plan to experiment with. This gives you an idea of where my head is, as there is the image of the glasses with the strobe lights in the background, with this image I found that i could capture the lighting behind but could not light the glasses right without destroying the strobe lighting. I then decided to take them separately taking a image of the martinis and then taking a image of the strobe lighting on its own. This I feel worked out better and I will be experimenting dramatically in photoshop.
