one less sober night || taehwan & chaeyoung
hgtaehwanâ:
âyeah, no matter how many people love. there will always be twice as many trying to take you down.â he tries to sound airy, upbeat, but his smile turns a little sour as she promises to drink for the both of them. that was not exactly what he was trying to accomplish but he tries to shake the thought, tries not to pay too much attention to her finishing her drink in one go and answers her questions instead. âyeah, i know what it tastes like, donât worry.â he chuckles,â the rule only goes for public events, they donât really care for what i do at home. i mean, as long as i still show up to dance and voice rehearsals at least.â
âah, exactlyâŠâ he chimes in with a chuckle, popping his hands in the pockets of his pants as he scans the crowd. âso, you sure you want my company tonight? because right now it sounds like youâll either be stuck with the only sober guest at this party or youâll fall victim to the wrath of millions of teenage girls. better run while you still can.â
he pays close attention to chaeyoungâs stride as they stray away from the bar. almost as if he was trying to measure her intoxication by the wobble of her heels. she seems fine, though. at least for now. âcome on, you know thatâs not what i meant. i was just making sure i wasnât hogging too much of your time in case you had someone else to keep company..â he chuckles, takes a sip of his fruity drink before taking a look at the variety of snacks they had to offer. âif not, i offer my services. please feel free to take advantage of me in case you got your eye on anyone and are trying to make them jealous.â
âPeople are jealous, theyâll always be jealous, and have their own shit going on that even the most reasoning and and logic will not faze them and theyâll continue to be entitled little horrors that want to ruin everyone else,â she said. Her words were harsh, but true. Perhaps the alcohol was starting to loosen her lips, allowing her to express herself so openly. Not that Taehwan would mind, he had spent enough time with her that it wouldnât come off as a surprise but for anyone eavesdropping it would be a different story.Â
Chaeyoung nodded as he explained himself. âThat makes sense,â she said. âThey donât pick on you for that too, though? Drinking like...the night before recording or voice practice? I canât imagine that it can be good for vocal cords to strain them when theyâre not 100%,â she frowned, but she wasnât the expert here and could only assume how it worked in the music industry.Â
At his subtle, playful threat, Chaeyoung waved a hand, dismissing it. âHaters gunna hate,â she said, a fact she knew very well to be true. âSo I donât care. Itâs your call if you want to, I donât mind. Theyâll tear me down one way or another and it doesnât bother me, Iâm not fazed,â she shrugged.Â
âI know, I know, Iâm sorry,â she said. âBut no one is waiting for me, Iâm just by myself and youâre never hogging my time, youâre one of the few people in this community I enjoy spending time with,â she said, honest in her words. At his offer, she couldnât help but laugh. She knew he meant it, would be willing to do that for her, regardless of how his fans reacted. âNo, no, thereâs no one that I feel that way about, so no one to make jealous tonight,â she said, before turning to look at him. âAre you hoping to catch someoneâs eye? Because if so, I mean, if I can help...â she trailed off, brow raised, the gesture completing the sentence for her.Â
