I got the wonderful opportunity to see Labyrinth on the big screen last week (thank you Fathom Events) and I think this time around really helped me nail down one of the things that makes this movie so special to me: the ending message.
A story with a somewhat childish sixteen-year-old girl who immerses herself in magic and fantasy worlds who goes through a journey and a transformation and comes out the other side more mature could very easily have ended with the message of "Now that the adventure in the fantasy world is over, our heroine has grown and matured enough to leave magic and fantasy behind and become an Adult."
But Labyrinth doesn't do that.
Labyrinth says: "You might grow up a little. You might put away your costumes and your music box and your crown. You might give your teddy bear to your little brother. But that doesn't mean you have to leave it all behind. Every so often in your life, for no reason at all, you might need a little magic back in your life. And your friends in the fantasy world will always be there for you."
"Should you need them."
I think it’s extremely telling that the birthdays of Skye Henwood and Sam Miller are both in July, yet Viv has said nothing when just last year she was taking them to Lady Gaga concerts and posting stuff with them constantly. I bet the falling out with someone has to do with one or both of them.
It's hard to tell, she seems to have had falling outs with so many people this year.
Cities you'd like to visit?
It's a long list, there's so many places I'd love to go! Paris would be nice. Ditto Vienna, mostly because I'm a Billy Joel fan.
Lmao. I like how you could just feel Stephanie radiating "i get a nice paycheck, but this character sucks, but they didn't have to and shouldn't have to". Unlike Ericka who talks Vivzie up so much.
Stephanie's got Disney money in the bank, she doesn't need to treat Viv like the second coming of Christ.
Have you ever peed on your foot?
I once let a guy pee on my hand. Does that count?
Genuinely don't understand how people can see Viv try to bully and intimidate her former associates with those cringy Instagram posts and think "yes, this is the woman I will dedicate my very existence to. Clearly she is very mature and emotionally stable".
I think a lot of them dismiss it, ignore the red flags, and/or figure that it'll never happen to them, that Viv will always be chill with them. But she only treats people well as long as she's got a use for them.
I haven't watched HB since the end of season 1 and I refuse to go back, but did they ever actually do anything with Vortex? Did he ever show up in another episode or was he cast to the wayside like every character who's not Blitzo/Stolas/Chaz as a result of Loona being demoted to background eye candy?
Not a thing. He shows up alongside Bee and does absolutely nothing and Loona gets jealous over it.
Stolas should’ve looked more like his dad. Built, strong, and mystical. Stolas is such a wimpy loser. Sauceless with no aura. Plus a wider built Stolas would look closer to the actual owl demon Stolas. A buff power bottom would be awesome, why is every bottom in these shows an outdated homophobic stereotype of a frilly twink that acts like a child? Yeesh.
I miss Stolas's pilot/early season design so much, and would have happily settled for that. He didn't look strong, but he looked mystical and powerful, and capable of fucking you up. But I agree, a Stolas who's built like the Grand Duke of Owls would have been fun.
As a queer woman of color myself who isn't trans, I love that trans women have basically been given the green flag to use, "Isn't She Lovely," as their coming out song now :D
Same, it's nice. People who aren't Stevie Wonder specifically use it all the time for the birth of their baby girls (also when their daughters get married). It's a really nice "birth of a girl" song.
free use is kind of a funny kink bc it relies on the idea that everybody wants to touch you and have sex with you but what if they don't. what if you tell everybody at the party you're free use but they all ignore you and mind their own business

At what point does Fandom just become a pathological obsession? If you're posting all day every day for years on end about the same show/franchise, I would argue it's veering into an obsessive compulsive thing at that point. A lot of people who do this also seem to be chronically unemployed and emotionally mal-adapted, so maybe this is sort of a tail wagging the dog type question, but idk. Modern fandom culture seems so diseased and unhealthy.
Hmm, not really. I've got obsessive compulsive disorder, and speaking only for myself, this isn't a "I've got to post about X or my dog will get hit by a bus" thing. Some people post very, very frequently about trains or cooking or gardening, and sometimes they're not doing that in a healthy way either, but ultimately it's just another hobby.

Some good news!
Truly excellent news!
On top of being pegged, you think Jax likes humiliation/degradation during sex? I mean, they hate clearly hate themselves.
I think Jax is the biggest humiliation slut in the entire circus, possibly anywhere. Gangle's a close second, but the trophy will always be Jax's.
I like owls, and find the fuckbird offensive to them. However, it would be very funny if Stolas got attacked and pecked by an actual owl.
It's just this, complete with cowardly bitch screaming.

A sweet and important thing to remember!
Very important!
I feel like with the new ~fandom drama~ or whatever going around, I should re-introduce my favorite theory of fandom, which I call the 1% Theory.
Basically, the 1% Theory dictates that in every fandom, on average, 1% of the fans will be a pure, unsalvageable tire fire. We’re talking the people who do physical harm over their fandom, who start riots, cannot be talked down. The sort of things public news stories are made of. We’re not talking necessarily bad fans here- we’re talking people who take this thing so seriously they are willing to start a goddamn fist fight over nothing. The worst of the worst.
The reason I bring this up is because the 1% Theory ties into an important visual of fandom knowledge- that bigger fandoms are always perceived as “worse”, and at a certain point, a fandom always gets big enough to “go bad”. Let me explain.
Say you have a small fandom, like 500 people- the 1% Theory says that out of those 500, only 5 of them will be absolute nutjobs. This is incredibly manageable- it’s five people. The fandom and world at large can easily shut them out, block them, ignore their ramblings. The fandom is a “nice place”.
Now say you have a medium sized fandom- say 100,000 people. Suddenly, the 1% Theory ups your level of calamity to a whopping 1000 people. That’s a lot. That’s a lot for anyone to manage. It is, by nature of fandom, impossible to “manage” because no one owns fan spaces. People start to get nervous. There’s still so much good, but oof, 1000 people.
Now say you have a truly massive fandom- I use Homestuck here because I know the figures. At it’s peak, Homestuck had approximately FIVE MILLION active fans around the globe.
By the 1% Theory, that’s 50,000 people. Fifty THOUSAND starting riots, blackmailing creators, contributing to the worst of the worst of things.
There’s a couple of important points to take away here, in my opinion.
1) The 1% will always be the loudest, because people are always looking for new drama to follow.
2) Ultimately, it is 1%. It is only 1%. I can’t promise the other 99% are perfect, loving angels, but the “terrible fandom” is still only 1% complete utter garbage.
3) No fandom should ever be judged by their 1%. Big fandoms always look worse, small fandoms always look better. It’s not a good metric.
So remember, if you’re ever feeling disheartened by your fandom’s activity- it’s just 1%, people. Do your part not to be a part of it.
