the difference to me, by the way, when it comes to sidney crosby’s acts of goodness and kindness versus nico hischier’s, is that i believe sid is aware that he is choosing to do good or kind things because deep in the recesses of his mind exists an abacus on which he is tallying the worth of his soul and he is always fighting in the spiritual trenches to keep that thing in the green. there’s a sort of self-awareness to sid’s kindness and generosity, like a gently smug kind of layer deep down underneath it where he knows he’s just bought himself one more opportunity to grab an opposing player by the knees and spin-launch them into the boards like mario does to bowser. every time he screeches at someone on the ice with a cracking voice that they’re being a pussy or steamrolls into an early-twenties player for no reason but the crime of being gen z he knows he has to go out into the world and perform a miracle. this has nothing to do with his public perception btw he does not care what the world thinks of him. it’s all for his private and meticulously kept internal abacus.

the 2010’s flyers are a treasure trove for hrpf. like The Assortment of characters. if you made a tv show with seasons that run like the hockey seasons starting with 2009-10 and going until 2021-22 it would be considered one of those classic shows that kindof went on too long but had its highs and everyone agrees the first three seasons are the best. and ending with the captain (who symbolically got the torch from the season one captain) being traded is a bit on the nose but what can you do. but yeah that twist where jeff and mike get traded at the end of season two is crazy!! and the later seasons did also have its highs travis konecny and nolan patrick really revived it for a hot sec. also danny briere is just everywhere im not sure why he comes back even after his character retired? heard they’re making a spin off with the 2020s flyers, who knows if they can live up to the cultural impact of the original.
