“This isn’t you, I know you.”
“Will you give me away?”
“You spent years taking care of a human, now it’s time to take care of your own.”
Emma shook her head, “No…they just sent out an announcement that stated the princess had returned. I do not know what happened to it, but it seems you lived a very different life. I’m sorry that you are uncomfortable here.”
“I don’t understand you mortals, are all of you so secretive? I was told that I wasn’t supposed to talk about Mother and my life before, I don’t see what the trouble is, I have a life with them why shouldn’t I talk about them?”
Masquerade Sentence Starters
“Would you like to dance?”
“I really hate dancing, so don’t even think about asking!”
“I’ve got two left feet when it comes to dancing.”
“Take my hand and I’ll have you flying on the dance floor.”
“I drank way too much, I think the world is spinning.”
“Where are the drinks? I’ve been trying to find them all night.”
“I don’t really drink, so this is probably going to be a long night.”
“Oh, I really like the bubbly stuff best, how about you?”
“I’m not old enough to drink yet.”
“You look….really amazing, wow. I’m speechless.”
“Where did you find that little number? Damn, you clean up nice!”
“Oh, honey, that outfit…it’s so not you.”
“Wow, where did you get that stuff from, the thrift store? You look cheap.”
“Oh, my god, that’s such an accurate costume. You look really good in your bitch costume.”
“You know when midnight comes, apparently that’s the most romantic dance…”
“When midnight comes…can I have a kiss?”
“When midnight comes….we’re going to go and kill the target since everyone will be distracted.”
“When midnight comes I’m going to dump pig’s blood on them.”
“Oh, hang on, you dropped your mask…oh, it’s you.”
“Hello, stranger. Care to keep me company?”
“Your costume is a bit undone, let me help you fix it.”
“I wonder who you are…I’ve never connected so much with someone before.”
“Seriously? How do you even lose a shoe? You’re not Cinderella!”
“Wanna go into an alcove and make out?”
“There’s a balcony nearby if you want to go and get some air.”
“Stay close to me, I don’t want anyone else stealing you away.”
“Hey, I know you! You’re–”
“All these people here….could be friends, could be enemies. I’m nervous.”
“I don’t do so well in crowds, this is pretty intense for me.”
“I love the high energy here! I’m going to have a fun night!”
“Do you think our host will mind if I just left early?”
“Uh-oh, don’t look now, but I think the person you hate is wearing the same costume as you.”
“Do you think there are any celebrities at this masquerade? That’d be so cool.”
“I’m just here for the food, really.”
“I didn’t have a date, so I came on my own…and I’m regretting that decision.”
“It upsets her majesty when I talk about Mother and my sisters.”
“Really?” Emma asked surprised, “How is that possible? Aren’t you the princess here?” She had no intention of telling anyone, she could keep a secret.
“So they say,” Branwen replied bitterly, “but this... place will never be my home, home is beyond this realm with my mother and my sisters.” Seeing Emma’s confusion, Branwen explained further.
“They did tell you what this ball was for did they not?”
Trying out a new PSD and Icon style, like for a starter?
“You’ve met your betrothed?” The idea was strange of Branwen, none of her sisters knew their intendeds beyond their names and family lineages, being the youngest of Queen Titania’s children Branwen hadn’t been betrothed to anyone yet, though she suspected that would soon be happening with her mortal parents.
“Is that normal here?”
At the girl’s confusion, Liliana smiled.
“In the old days, princesses would only meet their future husbands on the day of their weddings. But in this current era, it’s usually better for princes and princesses to meet their betrothed before their wedding in order to avoid horrible matches.”
“So yes, it is absolutely normal.”
“I fear I shall soon have a betrothed,” Bran admitted she didn’t want to be married to a mortal boy, she was a daughter of Faerie and deserved better than a mere mortal.
“I don’t want to marry, I’ll die a spinster before I marry!”
“I didn’t want to marry Johannes either, until I meet him. He’s the best choice for me.”
“Perhaps you can talk to your parents…”
“They’re not my parents,” Branwen snapped before she could stop herself, they may have given birth to her, but Queen Titania was her mother, and that would always be so.
“They gave me life but that is all, I am the daughter of Queen Titania of Faerie, that will always be so.”
“Why not ask her for a new betrothed? I know it seems silly, but it is a possibility.”
“If I could ask her, I wouldn’t be here,” Branwen said as tear came to her eyes unbidden. “I’d be home, with my sisters and my mother… I miss them terribly, but I don’t know the way back and the king and queen would never allow me to go back to Faerie… not now that they have their precious princess back.”
“Oh, Bran.” Liliana sighed, gathering the girl into a hug. “Don’t cry, little fae…”
“Johannes has brothers who are unmarried. If the king and queen could be convinced to agree, we could arrange a match for you here. Perhaps one of them would be your type of betrothed.”
“No,” Bran sobbed “All I want is to go home and see my mother and sisters, I don’t want to be tied to the mortal realm, I want to go back home.” The tears wouldn’t stop now, so Bran accepted the hug, it felt good to be held and have someone listen.
