Day 30: A song that reminds you of yourself

Well, here we are. The end of this journey and what is a better way to end this challenge than with the Childish Gambino classic, 3005. I relate to any Childish Gambino on a personal level, but this one is the thesis, in my opinion. It describes loneliness and dependency. It describes me very well which is why I really connect with this song. I think Childish Gambino tells a very relatable story with his audience and he is constantly overlooked. EVERYONE NEEDS TO TAKE CHILDISH GAMBINO SERIOUSLY! Albeit, his music is not entirely meant for the radio and honestly, that’s a good thing. In a way, I guess you can kinda consider his music to be “high culture”, meaning it isn’t meant for the mass culture. His music isn’t meant for the weak minded. He’s an intellectual. It’s time for everyone to realize that and respect it. #DonaldForSpiderman

Day 29: A song that you remember from your childhood

Honestly, out of all the Disney music and movies, this is my favorite song. There’s something about this song that just instantly makes you love it! I watched A Goofy Movie a thousand times, but it’s not my favorite. It just happens to have my favorite song which I think people don’t listen to. Personally, listen to this song and you’ll see why it is my favorite Disney jam!

Day 28: A song by an artist with a voice that you love

I remember first hearing “Girlfriend” by Nao and I was thinking, “WHO IS THIS??” Her voice is honestly one of a kind. It is unmatched by no other. I see there is so much emotion in her voice. Plus, this is an electronic R&B jam! Why is she not being played all over the radios? Nao deserves to be widely recognized. She is truly a rising star.

Day 27: A song that breaks your heart

Sad songs come easily to me when I’m sad and this is one song that I could connect with on an emotional level whenever I went through a break-up. I think it’s a beautiful piece that tells a sad but optimistic story of life after love. The guitar picking in this song just strikes the heart easily and could easily force some tears during dark times.

Day 24: A song by a band you wish were still together

Honestly, B2K made bumpin music. It was sad to hear their breakup. The worst part was that they were doing autograph signings in Germany and they were going to do one an hour from my location and I was going to go to that. But then, they said that the group was splitting and I was sad. I don’t know where they would go if they were still together, but I know they would still be making hot music like this.

Day 23: A song that you think everybody should listen to

I think everyone should listen to Anderson .Paak in general. This dude is really taking us back. So, much soul! I love it! But, this song is definitely the one that I think defines him other than “Am I Wrong”. I really like the chill vibe of this song and the children’s choir in the background is soothing and refreshing. I feel sanguine when I hear this song. It’s just straight relaxing. It makes you want to move forward. Don’t sleep on Anderson .Paak!
