why did you make this blog?

idk man I'm in my sports era. But specifically only for AFL, of which sadly has very little online presence outside of r/afl (surprisingly wholesome actually! r/afl said gay rights!) and facebook (toxic sludge pit). And some hornyposting on tumblr ??? all my love to the club blogs and fellow afblr posters around here pls message me I would love to follow you. you’re doing gods work.

basically I just want to post about this stupid game and my funny sports blorbos in peace. and by peace i mean an accepting space, so if you're going to start discriminating (looking at you terfs and other such bigots) you're getting blocked. i will also tolerate no umpire hate. those men and women are heroes.

who do you support?

look I'm a Brisbane Lions supporter through and through BUT i do appreciate all the clubs in different ways. also a huge fan of the aflw! you'll find no club discrimination here

yeah well the actual greatest player in the league is the one who makes all their team mates smile when they walk into the room. the best player is the integral heart and soul that propels entire teams to unimagined heights for one another. the number one player is the glue that holds the team together when times are tough and wins are few and far between. the greatest player is the one that reminds everyone that despite individual acts of brilliance, there is an entire community working together on the field and off it to bring it all home.

I don’t think we talk enough about the fact that every club has their own little song they sing together. It really opens the doors to some very funny mental images.

Do players who get traded to a new club have to spend the evening before their first game studying up the lyrics just in case their new club wins?

Do players have little practice groups together to refresh themselves on the lyrics?

Do new clubs (like Tasmania) get all their players together and learn the song like a choir would?

the first thing u need to understand about athletes is that they are cringe losers bc they skipped school in hopes of never having to work a real job. the second thing you need to understand abt athletes is that they are first and foremost workers whose years of lucrative labour are capped by the very real limit that the strain of that selfsame work puts on their bodies which means they retire at an age before most people's careers even really take off and are expected to get by for the rest of their lives on the money they earned those few years. the third thing you need to understand is that they want to fuck their coworker.
