Your chest is heaving with ragged breaths, bones aching from the struggle to clutch onto your life.

“I trust you to do it,” he says, voice foreign in your ears, “me first, then Tim, then yourself.”

Alex doesn’t seem surprised at your refusal. Though he knows it won’t take much for you to pull the trigger in the end. He shouts and the rage comes spilling from his lips like poisoned honey; you flinch with every movement he makes, the frightened tears rushing down your cold cheeks and finally there’s his last step, too close for you to bear with his raised fist.

The gunshot rings out clearly and you choke on the sound. You fall to your knees next to him, trembling fingers clutching his face, heart wrenching. Through heartbroken tears and with your lips pressed to his, you whisper your last goodbye,

“They say the sweetest deaths are by a lover’s hand. I wish you the sweetest death, my dear. I’ll see you soon.”
