“It’s been too long! I’m sorry, i kept going from one place to another. But i thought about you a lot!” Bailey insisted. As Charles hugged her, she practically jumped for joy hugging him back tightly. “Oh thank you, Charles! That’s so kind of you, i hope you’re right!” She grinned widely, finally releasing Charles from her arms. “Nothing? Are you sure? Oh, i don’t think anybody would- would dare swap out your muchness! Have you… Have you um. Heard from Cassidy at all?” Bailey asked, carefully, not wanting to upset him. “Or how have things been with your siblings? This um. This fire business… That’s pretty scary too, right?”

“——— a lot of things have happened over the past months... so it’s fine, i get it.” he shrugged, it was actually better for him that she wasn’t around to witness how much of a mess he really was. “of course i am, cats are always right.” once they were apart once again he crossed his arms over his chest but his welcoming smile remained on his face. “nothing at all! i- uh, no... i haven’t heard from her in a long time. i know she’s back in arendelle, but when i left she was already gone and the place i went to didn’t allow me to use my phone.” he remained silent for a moment. “i’m sure she’s fine though... as for my siblings, i guess my relationship with them is the same as always if not, well, worse.” he cleared his throat. “like i said, lots of things have happened and like the fire they’re not necessarily a good thing. let’s just not talk about that right now. bad things should wait their proper time to be told.”

Finally sitting down, Carmen rested her head back on the tree, looking in the distance as she awaited what her brother had to say. She swears she could’ve laughed. How fucked up did they have to be for them to be in similar situations? “It sucks, doesn’t it?” she sighed. “they’re supposed to make you feel better, and they do, but they make you feel like shit at the same time. And you start to wonder if you were that bad in the first place.” she said, still looking in the distance.

“——— it does,” charles replied in a whisper. he brought his legs to his chest and hugged them together as he rested his head on top of his knees. “but i’d rather feel like crap than...” feeling like going on a killing spree is what he wanted to say but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. she could get the gist of it anyways. “...uh, how do you know though? what it feels like? what did you do before coming here?”

“And then my parents and i talked for a while and they realised the whole ‘disowning’ me thing was a bit dramatic, especially now that Isaac’s gone again. Who i miss, but it happens, right? So i guess i’m back to being the Princess again now and i- i feel like everything’s going to be different this time. Better, you know?” Bailey paused, realising how long she was talking for and blushed. “Sorry! Gosh, i- i totally ranted. Sorry, Charles. I meant to say that i missed you. But what’s been going on with you, though? You’ve always got something interesting to say!”

charles shook his head with a big smile on his face, it felt so long since he did it so genuinely. but it made him so happy to see bailey once again. “oh, i missed you too! it feels like i haven’t seen you in ages!” it was no secret that charles wasn’t a touchy-feely person at all. but he felt compelled to give bailey a hug, so he did. “i’m really glad that things are going better for you, i’m sure it all will go well from now on. if anyone deserves good things in their life it’s you.” there was no hint of sarcasm or malice on his voice, he was being as honest and a riddle could be. “can you believe i’ve done nothing interesting at all? i’m probably getting older or someone swapped out my muchness while i was sleeping.”

Adam huffed a bit of laughter, nodding. “If that’s what we’re calling it now, yeah, that.” He leaned his head back against the wall, shrugging. “Dunno. Anything but be here. I’d like to breathe, and at this point buildings are feeling a little claustrophobic. Probably just…find something to eat. Get out, basically.” Adam chuckled, looking over at Charles. “I didn’t really think this through.”

“——— you definitely didn’t. at all.” he replied with a little smile, his reaction was funny. “truth be told, i do want to get out of here. i just wanted to hear what you’d say; i kinda like messing with people.” charles shrugged as if it was the most normal thing in the world. and it was, at least for him. “i’ll join you if you want, but i’m telling you in advance that i might not be good company i’m used to being alone and i tend to wander off by myself when i’m in new places so...”

Jubilee jumped when Charles pulled away. She blinked dumbly as he rattled off what she could only assume was a threat - she hadn’t really expected him to get so bent out of shape. “Ya’know, all you have to do is tell me not to do that again.” She pointed out, crossing her own arms. “Threats aren’t gonna get you anywhere.” Jubilee pursed her lips, shrugging. “All you need to say is no, ya’know. I can take it.” She huffed a bit of laughter, a small smile crossing her lips.

charles took a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself down. his expression remained the same, a little frown that made him look angry even though he wasn’t. if anything he felt a little wary of the girl in front of him, he had never been the best at dealing with strangers. “sorry...” he finally said after a few seconds. he didn’t mean the things he had previously said, in fact, he wasn’t even sure why he overreacted... maybe a side-effect, he sighed. “i’m not too fond of physical contact, i also don’t do well with strangers so you caught me off guard. eh, i didn’t mean to threaten you, i guess bad habits die hard.”

so all of you riddles are actually cats? i have so many questions now. 1) why aren't you more cat like, ya know graceful and shit? 2) nine lives, yay or nay? 3) how do you feel about water? 4) who's the cutest out of the siblings in cat form?

“ugh, i thought everyone already knew that? isn’t it somehow logical? we’re the kids of the cheshire cat, you know? but anyways, just for the sake of keeping myself entertained i’ll answer you silly little questions. 1) i am fairly graceful, maybe not as much as i’d be in my cat form; but definitely more than you clumsy humans. as far as i can tell i have the same traits i had when i was a cat... keep in mind cats have different personalities, and that cheshire cats are not the same thing as the cats you have in here. 2) no... it’s more like a lucky and moderately extended life. 3) as a human, it’s fine although i still dislike cold water; i don’t like cold things maybe just snow. as a cat i’d rather remain dry because when my fur is wet my body feels heavier and it can be dangerous... especially in wonderland. 4) uh, i don’t know? probably athena, since she’s the youngest.” (i don’t know how athena looks like in cat form but here is charles, and here is carmen)

what's your fav riddle?

“i don’t think i have a favorite riddle. if i do, it would probably be one the hatter is asking all the time: ‘why is a raven like a writing desk?’ i’m not really sure about the answer though. everyone at home has their own hyphotesis, but the hatter has never said if any of us were right or not. all of my dad’s riddles are fun too, but they’re also really confusing so even though i like them they also stress me out if i can’t get to the answer.”
