“See why don’t I just go to you for advice right off the bat?” Rachel chuckled then and lightly tapped the end of her pen against her lower lip. “It would probably have saved me a lot of hassles in the long run.”
“Most definitely, yes.” He smiled at her, leaning closer to the desk. “Do you need me to write down what you say? Might go faster than trying to remember, simply tell me in a story form?”
When the screen lit up and Eva saw 001 connect to the server a small smile graced her face and she turned on her headset, greeted by the usual quote. “Q1, copy.” Her fingers quickly but silently hit the keys of the keyboard. It only took her a few seconds before the position of Charles showed up on the screen. “I tracked your location, sending the singal as we speak. Can you confirm?”
A few cracks emitted when he spoke, when the line properly set, his voice was fluently heard. “Confirmed.” He spoke, sliding the transmitter into his bag. “Is everything set? I might take a walk around the hotel so that you can make a map for me, you think that’ll work or do you already have a map you can send to me digitally?”
“Hey, Leo? You okay there bud?”
“Nope, not okay, as far from okay as possible – – – how even is exacly – excatcly – E X A C T L Y, that’s how it’s pronounced, success of the day!”
"Uhh..." He pressed his lips together, unfolding his arms. "Perhaps I should get you home, to bed?" Charles suggested, placing his hand on the man's arm. "Perhaps some tea."
“I guess some of us are more practical than others then.Or perhaps I’m too much of a coward to want M breathing in my neck. Or anyone for that matter.”
“That doesn’t make you a coward. I’ve just always needed more action than sitting at a desk filling out forms.” She shrugged then. “It always seems like something else is more important.”
"I am certain there are more important things, but if these things stack up eventually you get yourself more trouble, plus, filling it in directly allows you to remember more." He said, before he seated himself in the chair near hers. "That's what I tell myself anyhow."

Static groused his earpiece as he made a connection to the server about three hours after he had landed and arrived at the marking on the map she had given him. His own small base that had a lookout on the place where the exchange would be taking place within the next few days. “Double-o one to Q1, do you copy?” Charles asked, waiting for confirmation, repeating the same words until he would.
“You do that.” Matilda pointed her spoon at Charles. “Yeah, why? I just whack her with this spoon if she’s mean to me.”
“I should try that!” he exclaimed before letting out a chuckle. “She’s a mad woman on the training floor, let me tell you.”
“Unfortunately. It’s a close call and we have to hurry. But I can try to gather some things from here. Or send someone over to pick up anything you’d want from your place and bring it to you? I could even go myself if you prefer that.” She smiled at him once the offer was out. If anyone was good at stepping outside of set lines it was Eva. But surely no one would mind if she’d offer help that wasn’t required from her or her job. Those things could easily be considered little favors among colleagues anyway. “Everything will go right. The worst that can happen are a few bruises. You got this, I have no doubt of that.”
He nodded at her words, taking the material she had lay out for him and placed them in the messenger bag he had hanging on his shoulder. “Then.. Hear you later?” he added with a smile, stepping forwards to press a quick peck on her cheek; a traditional goodbye for when he went on a mission. “I’ll let you know when I made it to Istanbul.”
“Okay that is a little odd,” Rachel replied with a chuckle. “I tend to put it off till M’s breathing down my neck for them. I’ve never liked paperwork though. I was always much more hands on.” Spending your formative years traipsing around the globe and making friends with tiger cubs would do that.

“Correct. If they give you a hard time or something goes wrong I added an electroshock gun. Just so you can immobilize them quicker if necessary. But you know the thrill.” She logged the mission in as active, one more code and they’d be getting started. “In an hour and 45 minutes. Transport will be ready outside. Oh and one more thing.” She opened up a drawer and took out a small printed out map. “I checked the systems for satelite and monitoring pictures. Here’s your first location. The starting point.“ She started to trace a street with her index finger. “If you take this street it will throw you back about two minutes but there are more ways for me to watch you. Stick to the given route but if anything goes wrong this is your place to go. Not many civilians and I’ll be able to be your second set of eyes without any blank spaces.”
"You spoil me, Eva.” He smiled, taking the electroshock gun plus the extra refill caps. God knew he would have to use it more than once if he indeed had to use it. “Right. So no time to pack for clothing then?” He added, this time less serious than before. However, when Eva took out the printed map he set his eyes on wherever her finger followed, memorising the name of the street and the places he could go. “Got it.” He mentioned ,taking the map so he could study it over later. “We’ll be golden. I’ll be back in max three days, assuming all goes right.”
“The potato salad is surpsinglly good today,” said Matilda to the person entering the lunch room.
“I’ll be sure to try some then.” Charles smiled at Matilda, her presence able to bright up even the dullest room. “Has Zera been treating you okay? She’s got some anger issues lately.”
