“You do know that only makes me want to see it even more, but I’ll allow you your mystery.” Jack knew he’d more than likely forget about this come tomorrow. He wasn’t much of a dog with a bone kind of guy. Well unless he really, really wanted something. And there have been a few things in his life that he’s only ever coveted that badly. And only one didn’t involve any of his personal favorite pleasures in life. That being finding his brother.
Jack smiled at the waiter and thanked them. He momentarily wondered what the waiter tasted like though that thought quickly faded as the smell of food and Charlie’s question stole his attention. “Same shit, different day,” Jack casually replied before taking his first bite. When he swallowed he added, “I mean I could tell you about Dext, but I don’t want to bore you.”
"Naturally. General human curiosity. You'll do fine with the disappointment," Charlie said, a laugh in his voice, content with the knowledge that Jack wouldn't take it to heart. That was one thing about Jack, Charlie had always noticed. He didn't persist on something very often... not like how Beau and Hart do to him. But then, Jack isn't responsible for keeping Charlie in line.
Charlie nodded at the waiter as their spread was laid out in front of them. Just like always, he had ordered a little bit of everything. Doing so worked two fold: at once, Charlie was showing off his opulence, which he felt he had to do, especially after the murder trial fiasco. He was also just enjoying the food and selection of booze at his disposal. Brunch really was a great human invention. "Funnily enough, that's the same thing Beau said just recently. You two really are boring," he stated bluntly. Taking a drink of his whiskey, he continued, "At this point, the kid you're attached to seems more interesting than you are." Though Charlie didn't really want to hear about Dexter. Again. But he was supposed to be playing nice, so he kept those thoughts to himself.
