i'm calling it 'wil wheatcon' until i can think of something better
In an average year, I travel to around 5 or 6 cities for conventions. Almost every time I announce an appearance, the most common response is some version of “that’s great! When are you coming to [my town]?”
I’m not coming to your town, but I am coming to your computer (or your tablet or your phone or even your TV, I think) on June 7 for a virtual convention that needs a much better name than…
Hey, Tumblr parenting elders. This Convention From Your Couch thing is co-organized by my friend and yours, legendary Tumblr dad @charliecapen. You should totally do this because both he and @wilwheaton are awesome. And we could all use a little awesomeness right now.
After today's event I fell into a deep sleep and woke myself up with my screams I am now on my way to find a priest ...thanks to my fellow pirates @puertoricaninja @kristiannairn @sambaschutte and the lovely @charliecapen for arranging it all .... love is a weapon. Use it x #love #ofmd #izzy #fightback
I learned this morning that my friend Thom Hofman passed away.
He was one of the most talented and inspiring writers I’ve ever known, the kind that makes you envious in a good way. (He also used to work at the penguin enclosure at Sea World and to learn that this gentleman Tom Waits-type was also obsessed with penguins was a marvelous reveal.)
His death has ignited a fire under me to get more of my writing out into the world any possible way I can.
And if you are a writer, I suggest you do the same.
You can read some of his stuff at his blog. And if you are the type that donates to these sorts of things, his family has a GoFundMe set up for a memorial service.

I know. I’m right there with you. My six-year run at this endeavor has been nothing short of miraculous and I’m so honored to have been part of your journey within this wonder. In twelve years, GISH managed to accomplish things I never thought possible. Saving lives, making art, connecting with people across the planet. Many of us had no credentials or training to accomplish most of it. But we learned as we went.
You have to know how much I loved our time together and how much love I have for you all. I can’t express fully just how appreciative I am for everything we’ve achieved in this fast-growing community overflowing with creative weirdos and rowdy hearts. I’ll be thanking my friends, collaborators and accomplices over the coming days to express my gratitude. Without them, or you, none of this is possible.
While this iteration may be going away, I’m not going anywhere. This community and its dedication to play and do-gooding are undeniable. I have some fun and exciting things I can’t wait to share with you, but for now… I’m grieving, too.
So, please know this: I see you artists, rabble-rousers, poets, creatives, dreamers, pranksters, scientists, poets, do-gooders, believers, outlaws, authors, givers, healers, activists, educators, and wisdom keepers. You are worthy and valid. And there are many more adventures for you to embark on.
GISH has been a compelling argument to an increasingly callous world. I am so proud to have strived alongside you.
To unpathed waters and undreamed shores…
Charlie

Happy birthday to a brilliant partner in shenanigans. To the many adventures unfolding for you, @shopstands… PS: This is what it looks like to be a third wheel while two big brains banter-flirt about the cosmos at the Grammys.
hi. been a rough few weeks for my family. thank you for your nice notes wishing me well. if you can, please help @GISH get medically fragile & disabled ukrainians evacuated through @novaukraine by joining now: gish.com. the world needs joyful resistance. now, more than ever.
Some memories feel like bridges to beautiful distant places. But they get obscured with the overgrowth of time, so we need to walk them with others. Take the time to sit somewhere beautiful in your mind, especially if the world is feeling too much, and bring that beauty back here for all of us. We need it.
Hi. This is me and my graying beard standing in a stunning location that is just off-camera. You’ll just have to imagine it because I made a promise to take fewer photos and experiences things more in this trip. My knees are sunburnt. My breath smells like hot sauce from breakfast. I can’t seem to drink enough water. These are the mundane things. Reminders that life can be a series of routines, but they always keep evolving. The past few weeks have tested my routines and anchors. Feeling grateful to Mother Nature for giving me a place to recuperate. To all those feeling a heavy pull or a hard moment, let’s keep going. Daring. Dreaming. Even when going, daring and dreaming are hard, painful, and scary. Together. K? ✨🌲🐾🌿
