On a somewhat more serious note...

Genuinely, I wasn’t counting on Jax’s gender situation to be addressed in the text at all.
Maybe it’s because I don’t expect good things to ever happen in general, maybe it’s because the circumstances of my own identity finding process often make me feel a bit alienated from the larger trans community, maybe it’s because it took me six fucking years to accept that Fujisaki Chihiro isn’t cis – but I would have bet money on all the subtext remaining subtext till the very end.
You know, like it always does.
I actually put lower odds on Jax being trans than on Ralsei from Deltarune being trans, and Ralsei already seemed like a pipedream to me because a relatively mainstream narrative having not only a trans main character, but one whose transition starts midway through and is a crucial component of the story feels borderline utopian.
All that to say: Ralsei, you have to live. Should you ever discover that you’re a girl, you have to live. Jax repressed herself to death, but you’ve still got a chance. There could still be a happy ending for a transfem character.
God, I’m so freaking worried about that final prophecy.
