FULL NAME: CHARLOTTE ALEXIS NASH
MEANING: Charlotte: āFreeā | Alexis: āDefender of the Peopleā REASONING: Charlotte is the name of her grandmother, who passed away while Charlotteās mother was pregnant with her.
BASIC BIOGRAPHY
Family Life: Being the middle child and the only girl, Charlotte thought she'd be the cast-aside. However, when she seemed to be the only child that carried her parents' love for music, she seemed to get the bulk of their attention, much to the disdain of her brothers. It unintentionally drove a wedge between the girl and her brothers, one that she's always desired to repair, but proved harder when her parents talked about their "successful daughter" more than her brothers, who were successful in their own rights. She has a great relationship with her parents, though closer to her father, considering his career as a record producer, they always had something in common.Ā
Growing Up: Charlotte was born on March 24th, 1974 in NYC to a couple of musical geniuses. Her father was Edward Nash, who was a well-known record producer, and Elizabeth Nash, a Broadway actress taking New York by storm. The couple decided to move down to Miami after their third child was was born, in order to let them grow in a city more musically influenced. Elizabeth retired from Broadway, wanting to focus on parenthood, and her father moved his production company to Miami. The couple wanted their three children to fall in love with music the same way they did, and carry their family name on. However, as their children got older, they began to worry that none of them would continue into the music industry.
Adolescence: Charlotte always had an interest in music, but not in the way her parents were expecting. She dropped out of music and vocal lessons, and never quite took to musical theater like her mother was expecting of her only daughter. Instead, she fell in love with creating her own beats, her own remixes, and her father assumed sheād want to follow in his footsteps, thinking she could one day take over his production company. He took her his wing, but it wasnāt until she was 10 years old that it became clear that she wanted to make music, not produce it. Charlotte began making her own remixes on songs, splicing together beats and lyrics to popular songs and saving them to cassette tapes to give to her friends. For her 13th birthday, Charlotteās godfather, Edwardās best friend, gifted her her first set of professional equipment, noticing her talent. She refined her skills as she got older, and in high school, she started DJāing her school dances.Ā
Young Adulthood: Upon graduating, Charlotte had the conversation with her parents that she didnāt want to attend college. It was an argument, safe to say, but her parents were supportive that she wanted to chase her dreams. With one stipulation: if she was not professionally DJāing by her 21st birthday, she would have to go to college and start interning at her fatherās production company. Charlotte began to take small jobs, putting her nameĀ āDJ ___ā out there in Miami. She played various parties and bars, until just shy of her 21st birthday deadline, when she was offered a contract to DJ at E11VEN, a popular nightclub in Las Vegas. It was there that she started to take off, and began growing a reputation nationally. She DJāed nightly at E11VEN for two years before herĀ ābig breakā came; an offer for a residency to DJ at Hydra, a waterfront club in Manhattan. The brunette took a leap and moved back to where she was born, after having spent four years growing her name, her brand, and her following.Ā Shortly after moving back to Manhattan, Charlotte ran into Riley Gibson, purely by happenstance. Theyād met several times during her stay in Vegas, and had become pretty close. It felt almost like fate that theyād run into each other, and one thing led to another, and their fling produced a child - a son named Joshua. Although their ārelationshipā had long fizzled out, they navigated co-parenting almost effortlessly - thankfully, their friendship stayed intact even though their relationship didnāt work out. They even live in the same building to make things easier for their child.
Current Life: Charlotte returned to DJāing in 2002, starting at her former employerās gentlemanās club, The Executive Suite. Sheād kept up a great relationship with her boss when she became pregnant, but because sheād been gone from the club scene, she felt that she needed to ease her way back in, though sheād never stopped mixing music throughout her pregnancy and early years as a mother. She has a standing offer to return to Hydra whenever sheās ready - she just needs to make the leap.
