Cassie had been more closed off than ever, the girl would usually never shut up and just try to make jokes from left to right, but this time around it wasn’t the right time. She was sad herself just like everyone else and she barely had the energy to even think about anything funny. The girl was sitting by her lonesome but nearby others, sipping on hot tea and just being aware of her surroundings. Without meaning to eavesdrop she heard what Jen had asked Char and she couldn’t help and say something.  ”Watch out Char, that might be a trick question.”

Vannah was lounging around with her sketchbook in her hand trying to get something out on paper, but everything she drew always came out warped somehow. It never looked right to her and more often than not she would end up crumpling up anything she conjured up with her imagination. Vannah had lost every bit of her confidence in anything she did. She was just about to give up on her drawing when she overheard some of the girls close by. She couldn’t help but crack a smile and somehow she couldn’t help but want to join in on something normal. “You have a crush on Jen’s brother?” Vannah voice aloud with a small laugh spilling from her lips.

Zoe being Zoe had been in her bubble all day with her face in her book pretty much any time she didn’t have to do anything else like right now. She heard people talk, barely since she wasn’t paying much attention but somehow she managed to hear something about Char fantasizing about someone, Zoe lifting her head up from her book, looking at the other girls’ direction with a smile on her face.

Her lips had widened into a smile, sitting up straighter before lightly shoving at her knee. “Oh my Merlin! You do still fantasize about him!” Jen laughed, a hand coming up to her mouth and by this time the few girls had gathered around them. “You used to have such a huge crush on him. I swear you drooled whenever he came into the room when you slept over at my house.” Jen turned to the other girls with a bit of a grin on her face. “She used to have this cute little dazed look on her face. I called it her wonderland look because she looked so lost in him. It was adorable.”

Char contemplated whether to answer that question or not since Cassie had a point but the fact that the other girls had heard that made her flush. "I had a crush on him long time ago." she said answering Vannah's question. "I did not drool!" she hit Jen's shoulder gently. "And I do not fantasize about him."

With the wind howling outside many had gathered up in group tent; what would be considered the great hall if it were some warped kind of castle, that is. Jen sat on the ground with her knees bent, hugging a pillow to her chest. Michael was supposed to be out on duty so she had decided to spend some time with Charlotte but both girls had been awfully quiet as of late with all the pressure that had been built. Jen had her head resting on her knee, Vannah, Cassie and a girl named Zoe were also close by but still they were all so separate. “Charlotte do you still fantasize about my brother?” Jen asked suddenly being loud enough that anyone in ear shot could hear her, Jen picking her head up to look at the blonde.

The past few weeks had definitely been the quietest Charlotte had experienced. She didn't even talk much to Jen like how she used to back at the castle. But at least they were together and safe for however long it would last. The brunette had her head laying on Char's knees and she took the opportunity to play with her brown locks just like she would always do, hoping she wouldn't fall asleep on her like old times. That was when Jen spoke up and asked her question, loudly enough for others to hear. "Could you possibly say that any louder?" she asked her with a judgy look.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I guess. Don’t do anything reckless… Merlin, that sounded weird coming from me."

"That does sound weird and you know me, I wouldn't do anything reckless. That's more you than me. I think the whole new Professor thing is getting to you."

"You two are so dense sometimes. I gotta care about you, you know you’re important to me."

"I know.. but I'll be careful and stay where I can be seen, will that make you feel better?"

"Yeah, it’s just, believe it or not, Blondie, but I care about you a lot."

"So do I, I'll be careful and stuff so don't worry too much about me."

Michael rolled his shoulders in a shrug before pursing his lips. “How are you holding up, by the way? You know you don’t have to do this. Go to safety, all that stuff.”

"I know.. but I want to. I don't want to be afraid and not do anything."

He lifted an eyebrow up at her, knowing she was joking but playing along anyway. “Yee-ouch. Hurt my feelings, why don’t you?” He put a hand to his chest as if he were placing it over his heart with a hurt expression on his face before the lines smoothed over into a smile. He could tell by reading her facial features that Charlotte didn’t have much of a laugh left in her and that all the events had certainly taken a toll on her. Even when she joked she didn’t seem all that into it. “Hey, now,” he defended, “no need to be mean there. I am a child at heart. I make everything a lot more interesting. Everyone loves the clown.” He looked down at the ground, nudging his knee with hers but not meeting her eyes but at his shoes wondering if any one of them could go back to the childhood they once had.

"That is what I do best." she joked. Ever since everyone had moved to this camp that was a safe place to everyone for now, Charlotte hadn't joked or talked to anyone much really. She had been very closed off from everyone else but her friends and those who she cared about, always seemed to get a smile or laugh out from her. "Unless you are afraid of clowns." She pointed out feeling the nudge of his kneww against hers, she knew he was trying to lighten up the mood and she appreaciated that because of everything else that was going on around everyone. "So how's the teaching going? and just everything."

"Don’t I always?"

"But yeah, I mean, so far so good and I think everyone is actually learning something which is pretty fucking bizarre if you ask me."

"Okaaay don't let it get to your head. I'm learning something and that's saying something but it's all good you know, it'll be very helpful in the end."

"So, are you excited to have a sexy teacher like me working and shit?"

"Hm well sexy? Dunno. Hey, at least you're smart and I know you'll do great."

"Yeah, it seems that even under the circumstances they still have time to drool."

"Hey," he greeted back with his lips turned up into a crooked smile as he sat down beside her, his hands clasping together and resting his elbows on his knees. "I know, which is why you have to tell me that isn’t right."  He peered over at her, eyes squinting with his finger coming to poke her knee concerned with the blonde girl in front of him that he had known since she was about eleven or twelve always trailing around with his little sister. It was strange seeing her grown up now but he was so used to seeing a smile on her face, the whites of her teeth and dimples but now all he saw was a sad girl, scared just like everyone else.  With a sigh Matt took his eyes away from her to look up at the sky and all the millions of stars above them. "Weird isn’t it? How everything’s changed. Seems like everyone had to grow up a lot quicker."

Charlotte smiled slightly, her eyes fluttering closed for a sec before opening up again. "Matthew Silmings, I haven't been avoiding you..maybe." She joked, thinking that it would bring a little bit of humor between the two. Honestly, she couldn't remember the last time she had a good laugh. Ever since the attacks, break up, and the Headmaster dying... things were just sad and grey, like a cloud was always on top of everyone, one that didn't seem that it was going to leave any time soon. She looked back at him but then her sight shot up at the sky like he had, probably looking at the stars. "Very weird." She said dryly. "I hope you grew up though because a month ago you were acting like a five year old." She smiled a bit widely than before averting her eyes towards him.

The camp had been busy organizing itself ever since the take over at Hogwarts. It was exhausting to be honest, more than anything he had ever done before. The change seemed to happen out of nowhere. Matt used to be so care free, full of life and now he was responsible. Sometime s it felt as if he didn’t know how to laugh anymore. Sometimes it felt as if he was just going through the motions, trying to make everyone else laugh or feel something because everyone felt like shit. He was just ending his night shift on watch when he saw a certain blonde sitting all alone. He sighed, rolling his lips together before ruffling up his hair. There was a pile of warm blankets, pillows and extras for newbies within one of the tents, Matt going in to grab one before deciding to grab one for Charlotte, his sisters best friend. With a grim expression on his face he approached her from behind, sweeping in to place it over her shoulders. “Hey,” he murmured quite softly. “Haven’t seen you around lately, blondie. If I didn’t know any better I would say you were avoiding me.”

Charlotte was so lost looking into the fire that she knew if she were to look away, she wouldn't be able to see clearly for a little bit. She had blocked everything and everyone, someone could've been talking to her from a distance and not notice. But suddenly she felt something on her, scaring her, thinking it was something else but when she turned around to see, she was glad it was Matt letting out a sigh of relief. "Hi," she looked up at him and smiled putting her hands on top of the blanket that he had put on around her. "Avoiding is rude." She said with a slight chuckle.

Nothing but sleepless nights existed for Charlotte. She was paranoid all the time nowadays, thinking that at any given time she would be killed for being a muggleborn. She didn't know if she was going to be able to rest at night anymore, even if she shared tents with people, it was still hard. The only thing she thought of doing was going to one of the campfires and stare at it until she felt like actually getting some rest, even if it was ten minutes the least. Quietly she exited the tent and made sure she didn't wake up anyone else in it. It was a cold night, typical for this time of year but that still didn't stop her from going to the campfire, the fresh air was good for her too. When she reached the closes campfire, she sat in one of the logs and stretched out her arms to warm up her hands.

"I didn’t know how much of an ass he was going to be. He seemed like a good guy at the time."

"I was fooled by his charm but it's whatever. I've moved on."
