Yes. Specifically that you recognize what a good, kind person he is. I don’t know. It just.. makes me happy that he has friends here. He’s so introverted most of the time, sometimes I just worry.

It’s just a small, pink one that hangs off a keychain. I’m sure you’ll be perfectly safe. If you ever do have any questions though, or if you want to practice (not on me, but I could at least show you how to point and shoot), just let me know. How did your birthday celebration go?

I know he’s shy and all. I just find it endearing. Plus I talk enough for the both of us, so I don’t really mind that much.

Okay, okay, I’ll take it. And thank you for wanting to protect me - since I’m totally seeing this as a bday gift, just so you know. I might take you up on that practicing some time. It was good! I got proper amounts of drunk and managed not to throw up or make a fool of myself. Pretty much all that I wanted happened.

That’s totally something that’s meant to be a children’s book and then a Disney Channel show and then a DCOM. We just have to find the perfect Disney star in the making to play her and we have a hit on our hands. And, I guess, we probably need some sort of plot...which I’m not sure I could really come up with at all.

I’m half-tempted to come up with some excuse for why I have to move apartment units, just to make sure this isn’t some kind of reoccurring thing or that he doesn't’ try and haunt me from here on out. Believe me, if it was a spider, I would’ve screamed loud enough to wake the entire city. And then probably have burned my building to the ground.

Girl. I wouldn’t even judge you if you did do that. Bugs are supposedly like good for the environment and are part of our ecostystem but like...can’t we just get rid of them? For real? 

Good idea. Fire is the only way to properly kill a spider, tbh. Then you know it’s for sure dead.

If someone has a direct line to Mother Nature, I’m going to need you to pass on a message to me because clearly she’s ignoring my calls. I want her to realize that there are many places where crickets naturally belong. Chirping outside the bedroom window on a warm summer’s night, offering parenting classes to Gepetto in child-rearing so he can control his unruly puppet-child… Make sure she takes note that these places are all totally acceptable for cricket inhabitance. One place that is not appropriate, however, is in. My. Shower.  I don’t know he got there, but unless he plans to help me split the rent, he’s gotta go. Tell Mother Nature that his life is now on her conscience. Please and thank you.

I would do the same exact thing. If it was a spider...well, I’d run screaming and possibly never shower in that shower again. Even once it died. The only Charlotte allowed to use my shower is me, not any kind that makes a web.

Actually, it isn’t. Ohio has a very liberal view of pepper spray. You don’t need a license either to carry or use it, and a lot of canister models come in keychain and even lipstick versions these days. I gave some to Emmett to pass along to you. I think it would be very difficult to actually spray yourself, but if you’d rather not carry it then that’s certainly up to you.

That I love Emmett? I feel like most people who know him do, but maybe I’m wrong about that. I know they’re definitely wrong about it.

Oh, really? Huh...well, I’m still terrified I’d somehow spray myself in the eye, but if I can handle aerial yoga, I could at least give it a try. I hope it’s not the lipstick one, since I definitely don’t need to confuse that with real stuff and end up with a mouth full of pepper spray.
