more SbE - different, hand-drawn approach that replicates type created with product/cosmeticsÂ
Initial logo design from myself and Liam Kearns - however client wants something that works across all products and cosmetics - not just the hand-made marbled soaps. We however thought this was quite appropriate and didn’t matter that it had the marble colour - an added extra that brings life and relevance to her brand.

Loveeeee this. Really want to try something like this myself.

1. Placements - Transmission Creative – July 2014 – 2 weeks (unpaid work experience).
- Transmission Creative – September 2014 – Present (paid internship). After meeting Transmission during Self-Promotion, I decided I liked his ethos and want for ideas, so emailed him for a placement. He had been impressed with our unconventional photo reel of bad design questions and obliged. He also asked that I suggest a friend and get them to send a CV and portfolio (I suggested Liam).
During these two weeks, we helped on a self-promotion branding for themselves, web design, mailer design, and motion storyboarding. We worked at a fast pace whilst regularly being stopped to receive feedback. We also helped with the copywriting, which was interesting to see them print 80+ versions of the same paragraph, worded slightly different, putting emphasis on the importance of tone of voice, something I’m personally interested in, and helped with a lot.
After a meeting with Dave, Transmission’s Printer, we were taken out for a meal and drinks, to network alongside Grant, our creative director, Dave. This enabled us to witness the relationship first-hand and ask questions specific to print.
After my placement finished, I was delighted when Grant, the creative director at Transmission Creative, got in touch with paid work. I started back in September working one day a week, getting paid, helping with research for a major on-going project and helping with other branding. I am still currently working there refining Transmissions self-promotion, soon to go live with a new website and mailer. Whilst at Transmission I have re-designed a logo for a company called ‘Boots and Beats’ that was chosen by the client. I have been told that there will be work for me when graduate.
As well as getting a feel for a professional working environment, I have had great experience working to deadlines, learning new skills in adobe and general research skills. As well as this, I feel I have built up a great relationship with Transmission both professionally and personally, I feel comfortable in studio with the whole studio, and have been out for social drinks/networking events on numerous occasions.

Final Giddy Boards. 1-6
Giddy website mocked up to show that you could go online and see some of the ingredients used, flavours, products and also read ‘A Giddy Tail’ - or in other words, ‘our story’.
The website is purely to promote the products with a story and visual, orders could only be put in over the phone as it is only an independent stall set up.
Branding and pattern consistent throughout, with a friendly giddy pig to close shut your personal food box.
A mock up of a Giddy stall. This stall would pop up around cities, ran by the same small group, an independent company for independent indulgence.Â
At these stall, you could pick your base - whether it be quiche, tartlet, puff pastry roll or pie, then you can choose from various fillings of top quality pork, ham, bacon with complimentary flavours and exotic, tasty, and posh ingredients, paying a reasonable price for a custom baked good to be made in front of you.Â
Final Giddy posters.
I wanted these posters to be used purely as taster posters and show the product, in situ to give a fresh feel along with showing the branding and packaging to reinforce the brand.
The main focus here is the product and emphasis on brand and ‘piggin’’
These could be seen on billboards, bus stops and around busy city areas, where people will be looking for lunch. Also will be good at the top of the website.Â
Giddy has a friendly image and style with added humour and a general enjoyment to the idea of pork product, imploring people to enjoy a tasty, custom lunch.
This is not a chain brand and would be an independent group that would set up several stalls around cities adding to the quirk and loyalty to the product. People that want to share great recipes and see people enjoy posh pork products on an affordable scale.Â
Trying different logo’s and editing photo’s. Due to the colour of my logo and slogan, this was quite difficult to put over photo’s without getting lost. So I’ve had to work with them quite a bit, but also didn’t want to over do the brightness and contrast. I was aiming for an appealing food photo on grass, in an earthy situation to represent the pig products and grazing.
