Inside they go, finding the music very easily and swaying some to it before holding out a shiny geo the musician. They didn’t know it was money, they just know they liked the patterns carved in. And they give a bow as well.

Brumm doesn't take the geo, as he has very little use for it. "What exactly do you need help with, child?"

Charm huffed, gently putting the Geo on the ground in front of Brumm. This is a gift, silly.

I want to be in the Troupe! But I have to learn how to perform...how do I perform?

“Perhaps you should seek out a partner to travel with? I know I saw a group of fure little bugs that looked almost like you.”

They shook their head, shoulders drooping some.

My siblings don’t care much for me.

"Perhaps master would let you stay at the troupe." Divine suggests.

Do you think so? I don’t know how to perform! But they seemed excited at the notion, giving an excited little wiggle.

"Learning isn't hard, dear." Divine assures. "You'd fit right in."

Then I will learn to perform! They were excited at the prospect of having somewhere to stay, bouncing somewhat. What do I learn? What should I do?

"I'd ask Brumm. He knows more than I do."

They give a little bow in thanks and a nodd, before marching off to find Brumm.

The Coliseum! It was a vibrant place, with more bugs here than the little vessel had ever seen at once! No doubt they thought the small thing odd, walking around with that large nail of theirs. They were already bustling about, trying to offer gifts of greeting to all they bumped into, even the ‘staff’.

This was the start of potential friendships. Right?

So that was how it was going to be. The little vessel steeled themselves, huffing and bringing their large nail up to block the initial attack. The other jumped up and Charm stepped back one…two steps, and then they darted forward, slashing in return. An initial judgement, just to see how the other fought as well. A test, before all hell broke loose. But even still, Charm was searching for a way out.

This was, by far, the worst surprise they’d ever gotten.

The infected vessel, now seeing Charm wasn’t going to just let them win, began the real show. They darted around Charm in zig-zags and circles, jumping up and darting down as they took slashes at them. After, they took their nail and dashed forward, nail directly in front of them as they ran towards Charm.

All Charm could do was deflect and block, wondering if, maybe, this sibling would come to their senses. Oh, how the Infection ruined everything! The little vessel huffed as the other darted towards them, those little legs bracing before they leap up above, to try and go over the other’s head.

Please, snap out of it…!

They bounced of them and looked at Charm dead in the eyes. They twitched, as something, a small spark of life, shown within the eyes. They shook violently before stepping back and running up to Charm once more.

Their eyes darted around the arena. Something in the infected vessel was happening, and the infection wasn’t going to go down easily.

Something happened. Something good, Charm hoped. They stared back at the other as they ran to them, holding up their nail to block any incoming attacks. But the vessel...something was off, wasn’t it? Something was different. Charm huffed, trying to push the infected one back. Just enough to get some breathing room, just enough so that they could slice their leg open on their nail and frantically write in the dirt in the dripping void, so that the inky blackness would fill in the markings and make them more visible.

Snap out of it! We’re siblings, we shouldn’t fight!

As Charm walked around, two orange eyes watched from the shadows. It made a clanking sound as it retreated to the darkness. The fools seemed to lead Charm to a room. Where were they taking them?

Charm heard the sound, glancing to where they heard it from. But then, there was nothing there, and they were being led. The vessel found themselves curious, toddling up to one of the fools and giving them a pat. Their head was canted, as though asking what was going on.

One of the fools spoke. “We have a very important job for you! Don’t worry, you’ll love it!” They lead Charm to a room with steel bars. You couldn’t see a thing in there. The fools left Charm inside there as they shouted, “just wait there!” Something was brewing, and there’s a big feeling it has something to do with those orange eyes.

Charm seemed all the more baffled, but did listen, stepping inside and waiting as instructed, wringing their little hands. This didn’t feel right. In fact, the more they looked around? The more they felt something new. Anxiety. A feeling of familiarity.

Void dripping, blades drawn, a pale glow cast across the room-

Charm huffed, shaking their head to cast those bad feelings aside. It was alright. It was different, it had to be. So the vessel sighed, crouching down to draw in the dust on the floor. Completely unawares of what was to come.

Eventually, the steel gates opened, leading to the arena. The fools cheered, encouraging Charm to enter the arena. If they looked far enough, they could see those two orange eyes again. They would have to fight whatever it was.

The cheering was startling, Charm had never had anyone cheer at them before. But slowly, they stepped inside, looking all around with curiosity. OH, that was so many bugs! But…well, what were they doing here?

They saw the orange eyes, and a sense of dread filled them. Orange was bad.

Orange was Her.

What was waiting for them, now…?

An infected vessel stood across the arena, a heavy chain on their neck. They held onto their nail as they stared at Charm, waiting for the fight to begin.

The fools cheered as they screamed at the two “fight!”. The infected vessel was only watching as they waited.

Infection.

Charm felt a shiver go through them as they drew their nail, waiting, watching. Normally things that were infected were aggressive, but this one wasn’t? Odd. Slowly, they approached, their eyes never leaving this other vessel. Fight? Why fight if it wasn’t necessary? Charm hoped it wasn’t necessary....

...but likely that it wasn’t going to be a peaceful meeting. Nothing orange was ever peaceful. So the Vessel was going to have to fight, like they had been created to do, it would seem.
