Wait, you got banned from the coffee shop? What did you do? Less stressed and still tired, but overall, good. How’ve you been?

One thing that I don’t get it, is why make a mess with your popcorn and tell us ushers, that you didn’t make a mess. When you tell us that, we automatically know that you made a mess and it makes our jobs a lot more harder since we’re on a strict time limit. Here I thought cleaning up spilled milkshake was a lot more harder back at the diner, but Im always proven wrong.

OPEN STARTER

Natassia had to be strategic. Unlike past years of homecoming, bag checks were being enforced and her dress didn’t exactly allow for extra storage, so she had to get creative when it came to how she was going to spike the punch this year. After her guidance counselor forced her into a team-sports class her junior year, Natassia had learned about the few hiding spots in the gym during the first two weeks she actually came to class. Her plan was essentially foolproof, as she sneaked into the gym a few hours before the dance started to hide a couple flasks of vodka.

After showing up to the dance, Natassia slide away to her hiding spot, putting the bottles into her purse. Being her third year of spiking the punch, she’d figured out how to do so without anyone noticing. Natassia had already recruited a few of the underclassmen outsiders to be her lookout, as she leaned against the table, pouring the alcohol into punch from the back, switching out flasks until she was done, stuffing them into her purse to throw out later.

Knowing she couldn’t draw suspicion to her by standing at the punch table all night, Natassia headed to the dance floor for a few songs before returning to pour herself a cup of her ‘punch.’ She could see a person near her from the corner of her eye, not bothering to look up as she spoke, “Y’know, the drinks really are my favorite part about Homecoming, something about how the dance committee makes the punch is just so addicting. Care to try?”

Iris gave her a knowing look then glanced at the punch and slowly nodded. “I think Im going to pass on it, but thank you Nat.” She gave her friend a soft smile and patted her carefully on the shoulder. “Besides, we both know that there’s going to be a lot of people who will be drunk within minutes of drinking that.”

Iris stared at the punch, bit down on her bottom lip and let out a sigh. “Alright, I’ll try it and let you know how it tastes.” She grabbed a cup, filled it up with the liquid and took a sip of it as she raised an eyebrow. “Not bad.”

Aurora was having a good night at the dance so far. She was lucky enough to have Nathaniel, the student body president of all people, as her date! He could have asked any other girl but he asked her. While she wasn’t harboring any intense feelings for him or anything, it still felt nice to know that a boy wanted her to accompany him on such an important night. Making her way into the bathroom, she did a quick hair and makeup check. Reapplying some of her fenty lip gloss, she looked at herself in the mirror. She truly felt like a princess, wow! Her curls cascaded down her shoulders and her long, baby blue dressed make her feel like she was in a Disney Movie. This didn’t happen very often, so she was going to hold onto this feeling for as long as she could. Making her way out of the bathroom, she suddenly almost collided with somebody else.

“Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry. I almost didn’t see ya there,” she admitted with a chuckle, her southern drawl slipping out of her mouth. 

Iris was taking everything in once she arrived and was definitely in awe. Though, she had a lot to drink, on top of fixing her makeup. So she made her way to the girls bathroom when she almost hit someone else.

“That was my bad, I wasn’t paying attention either,” Iris said as she looked at Aurora and gave the girl a smile. “You look beautiful.” She mindlessly smoothed down her own dress and stepped to the side to let Aurora by.

It was the start of Homecoming week and Aurora was feeling all sorts of emotions. Excitement, nervousness, and uncertainly. Sure, she wasn’t on court and part of her was glad she wasn’t nominated. It was rather cut throat and she wasn’t sure if she had it within her to handle everything that was court related. It gave her a chance to focus on the game and the actual dance. She had just gotten out of her dad’s office, a giant Tupperware container filled with her mother’s famous sugar cookies. If there was one thing her the Lancaster family was known for, it was their stern ass football coach of a father and sweet hearted baker of a mother. She stopped the first person who walked by her. 

“Hey, would you want one? Or maybe two? My mom is already going baking crazy this week and made way too many cookies,” she admitted. Who could say no to a sweet treat? If the person was gonna say no, she’d just offer them to the football guys after their practice today. 

Iris was minding her business, walking down the hallway while she listened to music and stopped when she noticed that someone was talking. She quickly took out of her headphones, gave the person a soft smile. 

“Oh? Sure, yeah.” Iris replied as she looked at the cookies and knew that she shouldnt have skipped breakfast. “I’d love to take some.” She beamed as she looked at the girl. “Oh, Im Iris, Im not entirely sure if we’ve met or not, but if not, then now we have!” She closed her eyes at how weird she sounded. “As a heads up, Im not this entirely weird sounding, I was up late last night and writing this crazy story. For future references, of course.”

“I was attempting to communicate telepathically with you. Tell you how gorgeous you look.” He shrugged, an exaggerated shrug that showed he wasn’t serious. “I guess it didn’t work.” He chuckled to himself. “Do you often evade the stare of guys at parties?” 

Iris made an oh face as she nodded slowly, not knowing if she believed him or not. “No, it didn’t. Sorry,” She replied and took a sip of her water as he spoke. “Well, Im used to guys looking at me weirdly, so I figured that’s what you were doing. Hence why I was avoiding it. So yes, I do evade the stare of guys at parties.”

though he felt a twinge of irritation at whatsherface’s tone, trystan’s smile remained, breezy and unfaltering. “of course, no problem,” he said, shifting his attention back to his own solo cup. making an effort to keep the conversation going was merely a waste of time and oxygen. 

“Great,” Iris replied with a plastered smile on her face and grabbed herself a solo cup before she filled it up. Then she walked away, glad that the conversation was over with, since Trystan kind of irritated her a bit.

For those short moments where the girl disappeared, Abexander found something else to focus on. He found her peculiar. Most people would either choose to ignore you, or confront you. Iris was avoiding, which was different. But he shrugged it off, and moved on. That was until he saw the girl again, he got off his seat and approached her. It was a party, after all. “Hi.” He grinned.

Iris was in the middle of talking when she saw Abexander coming towards her, and turned to face him with a smile once the other person left. “Hi.” She beamed back, crossed her legs a bit and looked up at him. “Do you often stare at people or is it, random people? I mean, I don’t mind, but I wasn’t for sure if I have anything on my face.”
