The spectacular Zorgvliet
Local adventures are crucial in pressing the reset button, connecting in with your soul and making memories. City life can cause you to feel claustrophobic and there’s no better way to break out of your comfort zone by leaving work early on a Friday (if possible) and going for a winelands weekend! Of course, there are a multitude of breakaways which I will cover in time but I’ll start with Franschoek and Stellenbosch - close enough to home (CT) but far enough to feel you’re getting out, absolutely beautiful and full of gems which deserve acquainting!
One of my best finds is Zorgvliet, just over the Helshoogte Pass and beautiful in all respects. The rooms are plush and perfect: tastefully furnished and if you manage to get one with a bath or a fireplace, it’s particularly wonderful. There’s wine tasting on the premises, an outdoor pool with sun loungers and the breakfast is top-notch. This miniature paradise is perfect if you feel like hiding out for a few days. Venturing into Stellenbosch or the Franschhoek village is also possible with a short drive.
Staff are accommodating and friendly and this stay allows you to luxuriate in the splendour of the surrounding winelands. For all these reasons, I rate Zorgvliet top on the list of local places to visit.
And I'm back
It seems I’ve found my way back to you. Where was I? In lala land, preoccupied by the excuse that is the busyness of daily life - a poor excuse - and one which should NEVER get in the way of making time for self-reflection, honest expression and creative pursuits. Like this blog post. That’s right, I’m back, typing away and you can’t get rid of me. So first things first.
We're just over halfway through the year and I've allowed my life to spin out of control at the mercy of external circumstances. So it is TIME. Time to relinquish power, magic and control (I am not a Queen but I sure am thinking like one right now). So I've put together a list, not for me my friends but for you too (together we learn) on how to take your life back into your hands. How to avoid that nasty trap of complacency, blame, codependency - you name it - and make the magic happen again. Watch this space!
Don't settle.
I should infinitely prefer a book.

One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it.
