cultivate kindness.

cultivate, according to the dictionary means to foster the growth of. kindness, according to the dictionary means a kind dead, or the quality of being kind.

this is my mantra for 2015.

i don’t think there’s anything more important than being kind to others. flash a smile, hold the door for others, listen to people… all of those things are simple acts of kindness. to be kind does not necessarily mean to buy someone an extravagant present. it means to do something for that person, however big or small, without asking for anything in return because the feeling you get from putting a smile on that person’s face is more rewarding than anything else.

there’s so much hate in the world. if you turn on the news or listen to the radio, you will most likely hear about all of the terrible events going on around the world. this is why we all need to cultivate kindness. i cannot stress how significantly the world would change if we all followed those two simple words.

kindness goes a long way. people do not realize how you can impact someone’s world by just being kind. it’s not right to exclude people. it’s not right to judge people (let’s throw in some to kill a mockingbird here and quote atticus finch: “you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.”) it’s not right to mistreat someone because of their race, gender, sexuality, or personality. be kind to everyone. you don’t know when someone is having an awful day. you can unknowingly make a difference in that person’s life by simply being kind to them. there’s no more room for hate in this world.

harvest that kindness and spread it out to everyone around you. trust me when i say that it will make your life a thousand times better.
