An interesting thing about working with plants is that they grow so slowly that our brains seem to not register their growth at all.
Which leads to people looking at a tree and realizing suddenly that it's 6 feet (~1.8m) taller than they thought.
Or people living in a house for 20 years, and thinking that their yard is still sunny, even though the trees surrounding it have grown at least 20ft (~6m).
It's just amusing to me how often people are surprised by plant growth, and describe it as fast, even though it's actually really, really slow.
