Identities are not monolithic. Contained therein are multitudes of diverse political perspectives. We only empower a dogmatic view of our struggles when we flatten the full range of positions out there into a bastardized analysis which, un-ironically, serves more to maintain the status quo than it does fight it.

I think what a lot of people are missing is that Hillary has already enacted/help enact policies that have accomplished what Trump is saying he wants to accomplish. (Record-breaking mass deportations under Obama, bolstering the prison-industrial complex). For many of us who are personally touched by the things Clinton has done, there is virtually no difference except that she (like a real politician) knows how to pander to marginalized communities.

I’m speaking to you as someone whose family has been destroyed by the Clintons’ joint efforts to get more Brown and Black bodies in prisons. I don’t need to tell you, or anyone this, especially not because of this fucking election turning people into demons, but last summer I went to California to accompany my grandpa to his brother’s funeral. I never got to meet my uncle alive, he died less than two years after being released from his 20+ year sentence. For a petty crime, but because of two past offenses on his record, and California’s recently enacted three strike law which was a direct result of the Clintons’ campaigning for their 1994 crime bill (the “superpredator” one you’ve been hearing about). But my family is just one of thousands, and I consider my uncle lucky to have been able to experience two years of freedom before his death and see most of his family. Granted, they only let him out that early because he was dying of cancer and they didn’t want to waste the resources on him, he was no longer making them a profit, but you know.

Amazing that you have the nerve to call me and others who will not forget all of this for the sake of one election a “fucking moron”, acting as though our pain is minimal, that our experiences are not even worth talking about when this woman, who is partially responsible for so many atrocities committed & actively being committed against marginalized people, is running for the highest office in the nation. Because of course, people like us talking about our experiences is just advocating for Trump.

I’m so glad that you haven’t had experiences like mine, that you can vote for Clinton without any pain or conflict clouding your soul. Now unfollow me, and anyone else who thinks like this can unfollow me as well. I don’t need this kind of evil in my space.
