“Oh! I’m sorry, I didn’t see you there! Are you alright?”

It was just his luck.

This was the second time today he’d wound up lying on the ground with his textbooks scattered in the wind and his ass really fucking sore. First time: could’ve been either person’s fault, Second time: it’s probably his fault. Perhaps he should spend more time looking at what’s in front of him, rather than the skies above him.

Ah-but he just couldn’t help it! The scenery, the pure nature was just so breathtaking. It was unlike anything he’d seen before and he couldn’t help but get so very lost in it all. He’d never seen grass this green before, in his entire life.

“I’m fine. But how are you, bella!? Are you okay?

And Amelia was right. It wasn’t a particularly large coffee shop, more of a hole-in-the-wall type than anything else, and quite easily overlooked among the other stores surrounding it. But only the best of coffees passed through their doors, which was exactly why Feliciano kept flocking back again and again.

“Okay, okay! What are you thinking of having? Hot chocolate?”

Ciao, ciao! Are you Ís...Ísel-Íseldur?

There’s a small flinch at the stumbling over the pronunciation of his name, it’s at moments like these that he can’t help but hate his name. Or maybe his native language. Or just everything, really. At least he’s still got angsty emo teen down to a T. 

“Íseldur. Just Íse is fine if it’s a mouthful.” He mumbles, clearing his throat as he glances over at the other. “Can I help you?”

Íseldur prayed to god that it didn’t turn out that he was actually allergic to cats, because it’d certainly make things more complicated than necessary.

….And okay, even if he certainly preferred dogs, he wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to indulge in having cats around (but only when no one was around, obviously).

He flinched a little bit, shaking his head. “M-Maybe a couple of times, but not lots. It’s too harsh on my skin, even with sunscreen.” He rubbed at his wrist absentmindedly, already able to imagine exactly how painful that would probably end up being. “What are you studying?” Íseldur’s only half interested, really, but hopefully it’d keep the conversation topic off of being himself.

Taking care of his skin has always been one of Feliciano’s Number One Priorities™, and ensuring that he maintains a healthy tan throughout the year is merely a small part of this. Of course he isn’t completely reckless, he knows to slather on the sunscreen thick - he has an unfortunate habit of burning the tips of his shoulders - and to keep out of the sun at certain hours of the day.

“We can go out in the morning! Or...in the evening! Whenever the sun isn’t super hot. I’ll even put your sunscreen on your back for you, huh? It’ll be like some...roommate bonding time!”

Íseldur certainly looked like the type who would burn easily. Feliciano didn’t know much about albinism, but he did know that pale people were often the first to burn - and the first to burn badly.

“I’m doing lots of music-y things! But I’m majoring in classical performance and air with a minor in music theory! Ehe...I hope you don’t mind the sound of the flute.”

She let out a sigh of relief. She was glad her words hadn’t struck a nerve with him. She had her few shares of people being mad at her for her matter-of-fact talking, which didn’t help with her being the youngest out of her classmates. Very few people were ok with how she talked, and it seemed Feli was one of the few.

“Yeah, but there’s those guys who deny liking cute things because of society’s views and hate, even when they like them. Even the ones who admit to liking cute things get mocked more often than not, but it’s always nice to meet ones who aren’t afraid to admit it; like you.” She smiled, “I like you, Feli. You’re all real; there’s nothing fake about you.”

Feliciano never could quite understand the stigma behind men liking cute things. Cute things were cute for a reason - to be liked. It wasn’t weird for anybody to like cute things, if anything, it should be weird not to like cute things. But, then again, Feliciano never had been quite able to understand traditional masculinity.

“A-Ah, grazie. I just like what I like, and that’s that!”

She couldn’t help but laugh, “Feli, you talk about coffee with so much passion. There’s no way you didn’t work at a coffee shop at least once in your life. It’d be unheard of! Besides, you have such a childish aura around you. Add that with your baby face and there’s no way you don’t like cute things!”

She paused as her words sunk in. She covered her mouth, “Oh…I’m so sorry. I-I didn’t mean anything bad! It’s just…you asked and I answered like I was taking an exam. When I do that, I forget to add in people’s feelings, s-so I just spout out my thoughts before I realize how it sounds.”

Amelia was just full of surprises - and Feliciano liked that.

He’d forever been ridiculed for his childish nature, his overenthusiastic mannerisms and words something he was looked down upon for. But Amelia’s words were far from insulting. Rather, they were quite matter-of-fact, a refreshing change from what he was used to.

“No, no! It’s okay! It didn’t sound like anything bad, not really, anyway! Ahaha, and you’re definitely right about cute things. But doesn’t everyone like cute things?”
