Awesome Sausage And Peppers!
This is an easy, satisfying and delish dinner that I have adapted from a dish at one of my husband's favorite restaurants.
You will need:
1 package Italian sausages, we use Johnsonville
1-2 green peppers
1-2 red peppers
1 onion
1 jar spaghetti sauce
optional: tomatoes
Start by cooking your sausages in a shallow pan with water. Cooking them until they are completely done isn't necessary. Just long enough to hold their shape for slicing.
While that is cooking, put about a tablespoon of olive oil in another skillet and saute onion, and peppers until tender/crisp. Slice the sausage and add to vegetables.
Now add salt, pepper and italian seasonings to taste. Or just dump it on like I did. A teaspoon of minced garlic (the easy stuff, from the jar) never hurts either. Good for your heart, keeps away the vampires too!
Cook and stir for a few minutes, then put in a baking dish that you have sprayed with Pam. (This is a great tip, if you have an awesome husband like I do that does the dishes, this will make his life much easier, and he will appreciate it)
Cover with foil, and bake at 300 for about an hour. This is great on it's own, over pasta, or as filling for a hoagie with melted Provolone cheese.
Let me know what you think!
